The Runesmiths of Oxpond
The famed Runesmiths have always served as the gold standard for smiths around Ancaepya.
Structure
The Runesmiths are a guild and so everyone of its members has some sort of say. The members are divided into three different ranks, named after the famous smiths of their guild, and each has its own assembly.
The Smiths of Flaed are of the lowest rank and their assembly has no real power in the decision making process, but serves more as a tool to coordinate the requests and questions the average Runesmith has for the higher-ups. These requests are then sent on to the highest ranks.
The Smiths of Jargruck are tasked with acquiring the materials the guild needs to operate. Their assembly elects representatives who negotiate for prices of different metals with the merchants who import them. They also run the selection process which determines who may join the guild.
The Smiths of Thromneal are believed to be the finest craftsmen in the world and their number is usually very small, currently only 12 have attained this rank. They decide who advances through the ranks of the Runesmiths, what prices the members may set for their work and lead the guild in general. Although they officially answer to the head of House Reinhild, the guild is mainly independent.

Assets
The Runesmiths control every smithy in Oxpond and their work is sought after all across the two islands. They have amassed quite a lot of gold and they often influence local politics.
History
The Runesmiths were founded by Thromneal, a dwarven artificer of immense magical power who served the dragon kings. He is said to have crafted some of the most amazing magical artifacts of all time, including the Hammer of Thromneal, a magical hammer powerful enough to level mountains, and the Dragon Scepter, a magical scepter with which anyone may cast fire magic. The Hammer has been lost for millennia, but the Scepter serves as the symbol of the King of Ancaepya.
At first the Runesmiths were truly rune smiths, artificers who forged magical artifacts and created mechanical wonders, but the number of dwarves with magical powers was small and the newly formed guild needed a form of income. A couple of generations after the death of Thromneal the new leader of the guild, Jargruck, transformed them into a guild of smiths. They started training the finest craftsmen in the world and soon the artificers of the guild were few and far in between.
After clan Reinhild became the royal family in the area the guild swore fealty to them. They swore to serve and forge whatever arms and armor the family needed. The leader of the guild at that time, Flaed, realized that the center of power had moved and they followed, moving their base of operations from their ancestral homeland, the Niveline mountains, and into the new royal capital of Oxpond. They have resided there ever since.
