House Reinhild

The ancestral enemies of House Ingmar, House Reinhild rules the southwestern area of The Northern Island.

Culture

The Reinhilds are one of the two prominent dwarven noble families in Ancaepya and as such take great pride in their heritage and traditions. Their smiths craft some of the best armor and weapons on the continent, and the Reinhilds are especially apt in using them. Theirs is a warrior-craftsman culture and the Runesmiths of Oxpond represent this perfectly.

Assets

They own various iron mines in the Niveline Mountains, over which they have fought many wars with their rivals, House Ingmar. For that reason they keep a large standing army with which they garrison the various forts protecting their mines and the many towns under their control.

History

The Reinhild clan had existed in the Niveline mountains since before the arrival of the dragons on the continent. They were given their mandate over some of the area they currently control by the dragons and retained possession of it after the dragons left. They were kings of the mountains and the lowlands around them and their country was vast, spreading from the Carniggan mountains in the west all the way to lake Brittle in the east.
At some point early in the existence of their kingdom they named clan Ingmar as their stewards in the east and gave them control of Brittlefel, then a small town. The Ingmars grew in influence and power as the town of Brittlefel became larger and more important, until one day the Ingmars and the Reinhilds were embroiled in a civil war.
The original reason for their war is unclear but it is known that the Queen of clan Reinhild was somehow involved. Their war ended in a stalemate, but clan Ingmar became independent from the Reinhild kingdom and the two houses swore oaths of vengeance against each other. Ever since then they have been at war, or at least in some sort of conflict. They fight over the control of the iron mines in the Niveline mountains, or over the fertile farmlands on the banks of the Oxpond River and hate each other with a passion, even though the  reason for that hate has been long forgotten.
