House Ingmar

The ancestral enemies of House Reinhild, House Ingmar rules the central and northern areas of The Northern Island.

Culture

The Ingmars are one of the two prominent dwarven noble families in Ancaepya and as such take great pride in their heritage and traditions. They were originally a family of miners and later military administrators, so they are no strangers to hard work. They take great pride in the products of their own to hands and respect other craftsmen and physical laborers.

Assets

They own various iron mines in the Niveline Mountains, over which they have fought many wars with their rivals, House Reinhild. For that reason they keep a large standing army with which they garrison the various forts protecting their mines and the towns they control. They also control the river Brittle, which is an important trade route that they tax and profit from.
Their seat is Ironrock castle, which is located at the source of the river Brittle on the lake. It's a large fortress with an extra tower on the other side of the river with a wooden walkway connecting the two tops. An iron chain can be raised between the towers to block passage down the river.

History

The Ingmar clan existed in the Niveline mountains since before the arrival of the dragons on the continent, but they were never prominent or influential. They were a clan of miners and they sold their ore to other dwarven clans. Eventually they fell under the control of clan Reinhild to which they swore fealty.
The Ingmars served the Reinhilds faithfully and were one of their staunchest supporters. The friendship between the two families was storied, and ancient sagas tell of the adventures of the Ingmars and the Reinhilds. Eventually they were rewarded for their loyalty and named the stewards of the east and given control of Brittlefel and the surrounding lands. Brittlefel, then just a small town, quickly grew under their administration and their influence and might grew alongside the town until suddenly one day the Ingmars and the Reinhilds were embroiled in a civil war.
The original reason for their war is unclear but it is known that the Queen of clan Reinhild was somehow involved. Their war ended in a stalemate, but clan Ingmar became independent from the Reinhild kingdom and the two houses swore oaths of vengeance against each other. Ever since then they have been at war, or at least in some sort of conflict. They fight over the control of the iron mines in the Niveline mountains, or over the fertile farmlands on the banks of the Oxpond River and hate each other with a passion, even though the reason for that hate has been long forgotten.
