The Vigiles are a specialized corps serving as town guards, firefighters and night watchmen. They are a key part of maintaining order and safety in the communes and are directly under the control of the Consul and the Comitatus.
The primary duties of the Vigiles included firefighting, patrolling the streets, and maintaining public order. They are equipped to respond quickly to firesand act as a police force, dealing with minor crimes and disturbances.

- Tunica: A simple tunic, often shorter and more practical than that of a legionary, suitable for the rough work of firefighting and patrolling.
- Galea: A simple helmet, less ornate and lighter than those worn by soldiers, offering basic protection.
- Cloak: A woollen cloak worn during night patrols, providing warmth and modest protection.
- Caligae or Sandals: Standard footwear, designed for mobility and comfort over long hours of patrolling.
