The Praetorians are an elite unit initially formed as the personal bodyguard of the President, one of the most powerful military forces in Kūpapa. The Praetoriani are known for their loyalty to the President.

 

The Praetorians serve as the president's bodyguards and are responsible for the security of the president castle, the city of Rongo, and the president himself. In addition to their protective duties, they act as a police force in Rongo and could be used as an elite military unit in times of war. The Praetorians are also known for their involvement in the political intrigues of the kingdom, as their support is crucial for any president's reign.

  • Pugio: A dagger carried as a secondary weapon.
  • Pilum: A heavy javelin, similar to those used by regular legionaries, used for throwing before close combat.
  • Spiculum: A lighter spear or javelin sometimes used by the Praetorians.

  • Lorica Segmentata: The segmented armor that offered both flexibility and protection, commonly worn by Praetorians.
  • Lorica Hamata or Lorica Squamata: Some Praetorians also wore chainmail or scale armor, particularly when on guard duty or during less intense engagements.
  • Galea: A helmet, often with a transverse crest or decorated to signify their elite status.
  • Scutum: A large rectangular shield used for defense, though Praetorians might also carry a smaller, oval shield.
  • Cingulum Militare: A decorated military belt, a symbol of their status.
  • Paludamentum: A cloak, often worn over their armor, fastened on the shoulder, marking them as high-ranking soldiers.
  • Caligae: Standard military sandals, though often more heavily reinforced or adorned to reflect their elite status.
