Beggars Fort
Originally Beggars Fort had once been as rich as the other districts surrounding it, but the majority of its population fell victim to the Winter Plague. Those who survived were often permanently scarred and unable to work, and many lost their homes while they had been separated by the quarantine. The Ossuary located here is a macabre piece of art from a time before. Almost everything within this giant building is made of the bones of those from the past, and it contains the only known entrance into the Knotside catacombs. The catacombs walls are lined with skulls and bones of the departed, an underground graveyard built on those long forgotten. All of these bodies are unknown identities, and many of the poor or homeless are placed here after their death if nobody claims their body. The priests of the Ossuary took those killed by the Winter Plague whose bodies were not claimed by families and were able to fill an entire wing of the Catacombs. The homes here are minuscule, many damaged or dilapidated, the streets cramped and the air stale. Children play in the grime of the alleys and the adults do what they can to scrape by. Many of Knotsides orphans who run away from the Orphanages wind up here, stealing and begging while they hide away in the empty and condemned buildings.
