Keona's Request to Train Elliot Jacques and Clare Nores
Addy,
I'd like to start by first addressing your opening speech in the tournament. Excellently done. Filling Esirri's shoes has been no small task for you, but after today, I can say confidently that you are fit to be his successor. You may try to shy away from it, but you sure know how to rally a crowd. Now, I know I have sworn that I would never do this in the past, but yesterday was eye-opening in more ways than one.
I formally request to shoulder the mentorship of Elliot Jacques and Clare Nores. I realize now that my previous refusals have not been with much clarification, so I'll take this time to explain why before I provide the rationale as to why I am the best candidate.
Maybe you recall from our few missions together that Meiratian combat is quite different from the organized manner of most Eastern Veilinians'. I believe this is because of a difference in how war is handled. In Meiratia, conflicts are settled by duels, not all-out war. Altonian and Visismolian combat are often based on the idea that someone else is there to assist, and while there's no issue with that, I did not think it would make sense for me to teach something that I do not practice. Off that, I decided that the only way I would teach was if it was in my style, and it would prove tedious to untrain Eastern principles taught into the usual recruit.
Those two are fundamentally different. Having evidently received no formal training, they function off instinct alone. Also, though I admit this may be a bit unfair as it was a duel, both fight in a very self-preserving manner. It would, for lack of a better phrase, be a waste to send them off to any kind of training that would force them to break these habits. Under my tutelage, I will make them bloom into fine units as valuable as me on the battlefield.
Sincerely,
Keona
