Princess Visenya, also known as Visenya the Dreamer, is one of this story's main protagonists.
She's the youngest child of Prince Daemon Targaryen and Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen.
She has two older brothers Aegon III Targaryen and Viserys Targaryen, and two older sister, Baela Targaryen and Rhaena Targaryen.
She is the first dragonrider to bond with Viserrax.
At the start of the third book, after the end of the Quest of Dorne, she gets betrothed to Prince Qyle and then, at the end of the story, she marries him, becoming Princess Consort of Dorne; with him, she will have three children, Nymeria, Daemion and Aegon.
Traits and Character
In the eyes of her father, Daemon, Visenya stands out as the child who, along with Aegon, most closely mirrors the likeness of her mother, Queen Rhaenyra. This resemblance becomes increasingly pronounced as Visenya matures into womanhood, earning her the moniker of Rhaenyra's twin among the courtiers. Admired for her sweet and flawless features, beautifully golden hair, soft rosy cheeks, and a delicate figure, Visenya is widely considered the most beautiful maiden in all of Westeros, surpassing even her two older sisters. One distinctive feature of Visenya is her mismatched eyes—her right eye a darker violet than the left—creating a unique and captivating aspect. However, at the time of her birth, this peculiar trait stirred controversy and was exploited by her mother's detractors as evidence of dark magic. Though initially a robust child, Visenya developed into a slender and graceful young woman, maintaining a smaller stature than her siblings. With a penchant for fashion, Visenya adorns herself in sumptuous skirts of lace and precious silks, accompanied by intricately embroidered bodices. Similar to her mother and sister Rhaena, Visenya prefers to leave her hair loose, enhancing it with hairpins and ribbons. Her affection for pearls, especially golden and pale pink ones, is complemented by a love for gemstones, with diamonds ranking as her favourites, followed closely by amethysts, reminiscent of her dragon's scales. Opting for light and warm colors such as yellow, gold, orange, and white, Visenya's wardrobe preferences change after becoming the Princess of Dorne and relocating to Sunspear, where she adopts Dornish garments in lieu of courtly attire. In addition to her affinity for fashion, Visenya exhibits a fondness for animals, particularly crows and ravens. She not only pets and cares for them but also possesses three tame crows—Maemarr, Virys, and Garaerys—captured and housed in a grand gold cage in her room, named after characters from her favorite Valyrian poem. Known for her lively and amiable nature, Visenya possesses a sweet voice and an easy manner of speech. Although she can display moments of immaturity, she can also adopt a serious and resolute demeanor when needed. Her own experiences with prejudice, particularly regarding her eyes, have cultivated a disdain for injustice and bullying. Due to her youth and precarious birth, which nearly claimed her mother's life, Princess Visenya was sheltered by her family, protecting her from the ruthless political machinations of court life. Nonetheless, she possesses a keen awareness of her surroundings, evidenced by her diaries chronicling courtly experiences. Scholars have theorized that she may possess the ability to receive prophetic visions during sleep, supported by entries describing events before they occur—such as the fall of Sunspear. Engaging in traditional feminine pursuits, including music, poetry, and embroidery, Visenya shares her sisters' love for dance and song. While lacking a passion for riding, hunting, or falconry, she distinguishes herself with artistic talent, demonstrating an early interest in drawing. At the tender age of twelve, Visenya embarked on an artistic journey inspired by the enchanting paintings from Larra's private collection. Initiating her artistic endeavours with pencil sketches and wax colours, her burgeoning talent caught the attention of her sister-in-law. Recognizing Visenya's passion, her sister-in-law facilitated a unique opportunity by dispatching two eminent painters from Essos, stationed in Lys and Myr, to instruct and refine her technique. Visenya's rapid progress and undeniable skill prompted her mother, following the conclusion of the Dornish war, to commission portraits for her private chambers. Beyond official and institutional paintings, the princess delighted in capturing candid moments of her family's daily life on her sketchbook, employing charcoal to immortalize scenes unbeknownst to her subjects. Notably, Visenya is credited with the lone surviving depiction of Aegon The Elder, showcasing her artistic prowess. Additionally, she produced several portraits of her uncle Aemond, distinguished by the absence of his eye patch. In parallel with her artistic pursuits, Visenya, mirroring her mother's youthful interests, found fascination in Valyrian songs and narratives of love, adventure, handsome princes, honorable knights, chivalry, and love. Unlike her siblings Aegon and Baela, she displayed a preference for sun-drenched locales such as King's Landing and Oldtown, shunning the gloomy ambiance of Dragonstone." Fascinated by Valyrian songs and tales of love, adventure, and chivalry, Visenya prefers sunny locales like King's Landing and Oldtown over the gloomier Dragonstone, setting her apart from her siblings, Aegon and Baela.Social
