Alys Rivers
DISLAIMERS: This Article contains major spoiler of The Doom in Our Blood comes Back. This character had appeared in both "TBaTG" and then "TDIOBCB", with some important changes between one Fic to another.
Alys Rivers, also known as "the Lady of Crows", is one of the main characters that compare in this story.
She's the first child of Lord Lyonel Strong and his only illegitimate offspring; her mother's identity is a mystery, however, in the bonus chapter "The Bear and the Maiden Fair", Alys reveals to her half-brother Harwin that she was a member of the ancient clan of Children of the Forest who used to live on Heart Hall, before the coming of Andals.
Aside from Harwin, Alys has other three younger half-siblings: Larys, Careleen and Alla Strong.
Since she was a kid Alys possessed the ability to see visions of the future by looking to the flames through water and is rumoured that she predicted the disability of her brother Larys even before he was born.
At some point in her life, during the years 104 AC and 105 AC Alys discovers to be the next High Priestess of the Isle of Faces and leaves Harrenhal to train with the Green Men, where she can raffinate her powers and discover how to use her magic.
After the death of her father, which happened in 120 AC because of a fire orchestrated by the Greens, Alys swears to punish those responsible for his death: six years later she meets him for the first time Aemond, whom she recognizes as the "chosen groom" for her and starts her plan to destroy House Hightower with the help of her half-brother Harwin.
In 129 AC when the civil war begins, she's the one who welcomes Aemond and his army at the doors of Harrenhall; during those months, to convince him to marry her instead of his fiance Lady Cassandra, Alys shows him her powers and together they generate their first and only son, Baelor.
Thanks to her influence the Greens eventually lose the war and House Hightower is excited: during the arrival of the Blacks army at Harrenhal she finally reveals herself to the Lords of the Riverlands as the High Priestess of the Sacred Isle and because of this she's spared by them.
Because her husband has been taken as a prisoner she asks her brother to free him: thanks to her Aemond is sent to exile and will spend the rest of his days on the Isle of Faces, where he couldn't be able to escape and nobody could reach him.
There Alys will give birth to Baelor: through the years she will often leave her child to her husband's care when she needs to travel back to Harrenhall.
She will die in the first book, at the end of the year 136 AC, of complications caused by the premature birth of her daughter, who will be stillborn, her body will then be buried under the Weirwood present in the Godswood of Harrenhal.
It's rumoured - and then confirmed - during the story, that Alys and her brother Harwin had an affair when they were young and that after he took possession of the castle they became lovers: it's possible that some of her unborn children are his.
