Rhaena Targaryen

Princess Rhaena Targaryen is one of the main characters that compare in this story. She's the second daughter of Prince Daemon Targaryen and Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. She has two older brothers Aegon III Targaryen and Viserys Targaryen, a twin sister Baela Targaryen , and a younger sister, Visenya Targaryen. She is the first dragonrider to bond with Morning.   During the first Book "Triumphs and Defeats", she will marry her uncle Daeron Targaryen and became Lady of Oldtown. With him, she will have two twins, Rhaenyra - called Nyra- and Viserys - called Vivi - the first grandchildren of the Queen. However, it was well known that her real love was Addam Velaryon, member of the White Cloaks and brother of Alyn Velaryon, Lord of Driftmark, with whom she will have her third and last son, Rhaegal, born at the end of the last book. Prince Daeron, however, will never complain about this relationship and instead will support it, by even recognising the child as his, raising him as such.    

Personality and Traits

  Like all Targaryens, Rhaena possesses striking silver-golden hair and captivating light purple eyes, inheriting from her mother, her delicate features and beauty. Rhaena is fair and lively, with a bright and sweet smile. She and her twin sister Baela are regarded as one of the most beautiful women of the Seven Kingdoms, however, by many their little sister Visenya could be even more gorgeous than them.   Although she and Baela are almost identical twins, as they grow into women her appearances start to become different; unlike Baela's, Rhaena's cheekbones are rounder and softer, just like her gaze; her eyes are round and big, just like her brother Aegon and her pupils are lighter than the ones of her sister. Her nose is small and upward, while her mouth is tiny, pulpy, and pink like a rose. Rhaena has a lean but womanly figure with smooth and unblemished pale skin and round and full breasts, just like her mother's during her younger days. Even if she was able to maintain herself slender, after two pregnancies Rhaena, unlike her sister Baela, developed a more soft and womanly silhouette through the years, which, however, made her look even more gorgeous than before.   Rhaena, unlike Baela, was very into fashion since she was a kid, loving to try her mother's jewels and dresses and imagining wearing them one day. Her favourite colours are pink and light blue, two colours that she wears often: unlike her Baela, her style is more delicate and frivolous, preferring pearls over gold and diamonds over rubins, however, her fingers are covered in rings.   Although she tried to adapt to the more conservative and less opulent style in use in Oldtown, Rhaena, After marrying her uncle and becoming Lady of the City, realized that such an austere way of dressing was not for her and was completely dated. She therefore decided to dress her and her ladies-in-waiting in lighter, more sumptuous fabrics, encouraging them to show off their upper torso instead of hiding it.   Unlike the old matrons who styled their hair in tight, simple hairstyles made to avoid attracting attention, Rhaena left it straight and free, adorning it with precious tiaras or nets. The princess even launched the fashion of applying flowers-both real and fake-to one's gowns or to one's hair; these novelties so appealed to the young maidens and noblewomen of the town that in no time she was able to convince almost all of Oldtown to abandon their old way of dressing for hers, thus starting a new fashion, which would later be emulated by all the leading ladies of the Reach.   Rhaena, as her brother Viserys, demonstrated to be intelligent and shrewd from a young age. She's smart and clever, however. because she realized that many - especially men - didn't see positively that a woman was that thoughtful, she learned how to conceal that part of her personality, with her affability. Unlike her twin sister, Rhaena was more patient and conciliating, preferring to use her charm to deal with people instead of using violence or coercion; thanks to her talent she's able to convince people to follow her will, demonstrating a great propensity for politics and scheming. Rhaena is considered to be the most charming among the Queen's daughters, having always a kind word for everyone and showing a strong interest in the smallfolk wellbeing.

Early Life

  Princess Rhaena Targaryen, alongside her twin sister Baela, entered the world on the island of Dragonstone during the 121st year since the Conquest. Baela, born mere minutes after of her sister, is considered the youngest of the two. As nearly identical twins, the midwives chose to distinguish them with ribbons. Rhaena was granted a pink ribbon.   The newborn twins were exceptionally petite, barely larger than their father Daemon's hands, and remained placid in the arms of their wet nurses. (2) Such fragility worried their mother, who feared for their well-being in the following week.   When Prince Daemon first held her he soon recognized that Rhaena, unlike Baela, was way more friendly and calmer, as she soon smiled at him when she opened her eyes. When he asked her wife how she would name her, he was surprised to hear the name Rhaena, as he was sure she would choose the name Visenya; however, because the woman was still mourning the death of her dear friend Laena, Rhaenyra chose to use that name in her honour, as irìt was the name that Laena's choose for her daughter before she was forced to change it. As tradition dictated, two dragon eggs, one pale green and one pink, were placed beside the twins' cribs to forge a connection with the princesses. Rhaenawas entrusted with the pale pink egg, which, much like her sister's, hatched on the day of her birth, giving rise to her lifelong companion, Morning.   Rhaena's early years were spent in the serene and idyllic setting of Dragonstone, far removed from the political machinations of the royal court. Occasional visits to the Red Keep allowed her and her family to stay informed about the happenings beyond their island home. One such memorable visit occurred during the wedding of her half-uncle, Prince Aegon, to Princess Helaena in 122 AC. It was on this occasion that young Baela and Rhaena inadvertently stole the limelight when Baela disrupted the wedding ceremony by breaking a pearl necklace, scattering pearls across the floor and creating a humorous uproar. During the Civil War

    During the Civil War, to protect their children from harm, Queen Rhaenyra and her consort made the difficult decision to leave their offspring under the care of Lady Jeane Arryn at the Eyrie. Rhaena and her siblings spent a year there, sheltered from the turmoil of the outside world. It was a time of relative peace amid the chaos of the war.  

Return to the Royal Court

    Following the Civil War's conclusion, Rhaena and her siblings rejoined their parents in King's Landing. There, they would begin a new chapter in their lives, stepping into the role of the Queen's children and becoming integral figures in the burgeoning royal court. Unlike her twin-sister Baela, Rhaena enjoyed being the new life in the Red Keep, becoming a prominent character of the mountain scene of the royal court, enchanting everyone she encountered. As she grew up and became a woman, many men tried to court her, however, nobody really caught her eye as her heart already belonged to someone else, Addam Velaryon, who unfortunately is unable to marry her.
