University of Apollo Campus

The University of Apollo is a sprawling complex that takes up most of its octant. Shining laboratories made for the bleeding-edge research of LOSTech stand side by side with concrete library buildings and residential student brownstones. All the amenities necessary for student life and teacher sanity can be found somewhere on its rambling campus - you'll just need a map, a bus pass, and a prayer to the Twins of Hyperborea that you don't get lost on one of its many sidewalks or footpaths.

Purpose / Function

The University of Apollo is an institute of higher learning. All of the administrative buildings, classroom and laboratory spaces, cafeterias, and residences necessary for college life are found within the walls of Octant Apollo.

Architecture

The College is a mash of architectural styles. Most of its native admin buildings and earliest dormitories are either prefabs or later constructions of simple brick or brownstone. Newer, more high-tech laboratory spaces tend to follow Zeus’ art deco proclivities, as they are typically funded by Zeus natives. Pockets of other octants’ design senses can be found scattered throughout the octant, however, especially in the residential districts.

Defenses

The University employs a detachment of the Oracle guard to serve as campus security. These officers are known as Pythons. They are fully-trained law enforcement officials who serve in the same capacity as any standard Oracle, with an additional focus on how to handle rowdy college students.

History

The first Library of the Tribes was established soon after the Founding Tribes settled into their new home. That original library building no longer exists, but its collection has been safely archived, as have the thousands of books, musical recordings, and artifacts found over the course of Olympia's expansion. As new technologies for research or storage are uncovered, the University adapts, either retrofitting or demolishing old buildings to make space for improved construction.

Tourism

The University boasts a number of science and history museums. It also holds regular carillon concerts on the green outside of Paean Tower. Other than these, the U of A does not have a robust tourist infrastructure. Visitors who cannot stay in a student's residence typically find lodging in one of the many privately-owned hotels that nestle in and around the residential districts.
