Melanie Light
Doctor Melanie Light (a.k.a. Mel)
Melanie Light is a tenured professor of mechanical and electrical engineering at theUniversity of Apollo and a mother of four. She is also one of the longest-serving proxies in the University’s Ark handling and relay division. She oversees a number of celebrity Runners and their teams.
Melanie suffered a debilitating neurological illness in her childhood. Her father was a University proxy and her elder brother was an Ark Runner; together they scoured arks and bunkers for medical LOSTech that could cure her illness. When she was 12, her brother was lost to one such bunker exploration. She dedicated her remaining life (longer than expected, due to LOSTech advancements curing her disease after all) to improving the handling of Ark runs and ensuring the safe return of as many Runners as possible.
