Tybee

Tybee is a small, lakeside community largely populated by younger, college aged students and dedicated solely to piratical themes. Buildings shaped like ships or hung with sea-side style decor, large “crews” sharing buildings together, and a party atmosphere pervade this tiny community.

Cultural Tenets

Anything piratical goes here, however those tenets definitely lean into movie pirates and a less bloodthirsty image than one might imagine. The community thrives on a laisse faire attitude of drinking, camaraderie, and “adventure” that is popular with the largely college-aged inhabitants.

Magical Culture

Most of the magic in this area manifests in swashbuckling deeds, coin tricks, or drinking challenges and alcohol. Need to increase your stamina? Have some rum!

Demographics

Varies but skews heavily toward young, college-aged students as well as a small group of salty old sea dogs.

Defences

Many drunk college students with swords.

Infrastructure

This borough is largely apartment style buildings and an occasional house boat. Several small stores exist, mostly set up to look like “old time” port stores, saloons, and trading posts. No one can accuse the residents of half measures.

Guilds and Factions

The apartment residents often fancy themselves as crews and frequently compete in drinking competitions, decorating contests, and “raids” but there is no real malice or heat to any of it. Each apartment building elects a “captain” yearly to lead festivities.

History

Tybee is a relatively recent addition to the Olympian boroughs. Inspired by a trove of ancient pirate films found in a vault raid, the fanciful imaginings of pirates were embraced by the young and carefree and formed a small lakeside community.

Festivals

Pirate Raids - Several times a year, the apartment buildings stage pirate raids on neighboring richer neighborhoods. They steal, pilfer, and borrow whatever they can, competing for the grandest heists. The items are always returned in good order onto their original owners’ doorstep, typically in some sort of “treasure chest” or wrapped in pirate flags. The grand prize is the community’s giant jolly roger flag, hung on the side of the building until the next raid.
