Hunter's Crown
The Hunter's Crown is the most prominent mountain range in Lesser Montestralis and serves as the natural border between the Nines Republic, Onyx Order and the Corvus Coalition. The western side made out of subtropical forest and plains with cloud forests and rain-forests blanketing the northern faces and grasslands and temperate forests to the south. On the eastern slopes is a massive desert, believed to have once been a lush jungle the modern desert is especially sparse with only a small river valley bringing any sort of life.
Geography
The Hunter's Crown is a series of rugged mountains in the center of the Lesser Montestralis. While the peaks are high, reaching up to 20,000 feet at the Hound's Tooth, the mountains are not as high as they were historically believing to have once reached much higher.
When they stopped growing an ice age formed glaciers in the peaks and eroded them into the sharp peaks that they are today.
Ecosystem
The ecosystem here is very thin with all creatures and plants struggling to survive in the harsh climate.
Ecosystem Cycles
Over times the glaciers that remain at the peaks will shrink and grow with the seasons leading to parts of the year where the glaciers extend to both sides of the mountain and times when they are thinner.
Climate
The climate here is very cold and often has snow and ice year round, while the soil has the necessary nutrients, the permafrost prevents any cultivation of plant not native to the region. During the summers, the mountains are covered in a thick fog obscuring the peaks from the surface and making air and foot travel nearly impossible.
Fauna & Flora
The mountains are sparse but life here still finds a way, goats, alpacas, and certain hearty trees call their home in these mountains. Most notably are the Huntsman Dragon which lives in caves near the mountain peaks and can often be seen leaving their nests at night as they leave to hunt.
Natural Resources
The mountains have historically been used as a series of mine sites, finding large deposits of gold and copper. The mountains also make for a good source of limestone and andesite both being used as construction materials.
