A World Plagued by a Grim Past

Welcome to Novidera, a world plagued by cycles of endless creation and destruction.

Long before you arrived, there had been a civilization that had already fallen, lost to time and nearly forgotten by history. Only the Engines of Creation act as reminders that the Old Makers even existed.

Now the world has been taken hold of by these Engines and a furious natural world. The Engines constantly seek to reshape the world, destroying whatever civilization tries to grow beyond survival. A strange ailment has a tight grasp on Novidera, where storms cause the rain to melt through stone or flash floods, rendering farmlands barren.

Despite these trials and countless others, civilization continues to strive for growth and prosperity. The Truffle-Born Drifters seek to connect cities with their intricate and well-guarded trade routes. The Lizard Order wishes to compile the world's knowledge in their vast libraries. The Crow Coalition longs to have the world completely explored, every mountain top and every root-ridden grotto. The Fox Clan seeks to bring the world back into harmony with nature and views anyone who dares oppose it as heretical. The Nine Republic holds itself as the industrial heart of the world, seeking to bring order to a chaotic realm.

As it stands currently, Soul-Steam is a minor project of mine centered around the creation of the world itself. While I do eventually plan on writing a story in this world, for the time being, this page is to be used to compile the information and lore that I want to put into this world.
