Hound's Tooth
Mountain peak to the North of Grimbric part of the Hunter's Crown Mountain Range, with the Hound's Tooth being the tallest in the range.
Geography
The Hound's Tooth is the tallest peak of the Hunter's Crown, with the mountain being a symbol of the Moonkin people for centuries. Because the mountain was once part of a much taller mountain range, the edges of the mountain have been filed down by glaciers leaving the peak to stand as a sharp spike in the nearby landscape. The mountain is mostly grey with some darker patches.
Ecosystem
The Hound's Tooth is a hostile mountain as is the mountains surrounding it. Very few creatures survive up here except for the occasional Emperor Condor, several llama species and the Magnum Bear. However it should be noted that these creatures can only be found on the lower slopes of the mountain where more plant life can be found and rarely venture to far above the treeline.
In caves higher in the mountain you may find a few Hunter Dragons. These dragons taking to the mountains for their solitude coming out at night to hunt the other creatures of the range and sometimes livestock in nearby villages.
Polylepis Trees, make up most of the lowlands though are more spare compared to other trees. At times travelers in this region are able to find wild potato and quinoa plants often harvested to make simple stews for those who dare to venture through the mountains.
Localized Phenomena
The Hunter's Crown is one of locations on Novidera that does not feature Floating Islands.
Climate
The Hunter's Crown acts as a barrier between the western humid side and the dry eastern deserts. Grimbric sitting at the Hound's Tooth's southeastern face allows for it to experience the more humid climate. As you ascend the mountain the air gets far cooler and the altitude increases where it dips below freezing for most of the year.
Natural Resources
While the peak is incredibly dangerous, gold and silver deposits have been discovered here with some small mining camps in the region, the mountain is also surrounded by forests on the western side and quarries at its base.
History
In the Moonkin's earlier history they traveled and explored much of the western continent, the Hound's Tooth stood out to them. Mostly due to its height and the surrounding terrain but the thing that stuck out most to them is an ancient rock formation that only appears under the light of the full moon. Today this formation is known as the Lunakamen and is still highly revered by the Moonkin, however its exact location is currently lost but several Moonkin and Corvielo explorers are still searching for this, with the Moonkin believing that finding the formation could be the spark to a revolution against the Maned Cats
