Onyx Order

The Onyx Order is lead by an elite council of elders and researches who have supreme control over the inner workings of the government. Within in the structure of the Onyx Order the individual has little say in the workings of the government but are able to sway their ruling if enough people petition against them. Though this right is lost for members of their government who are not Onyxscaled.

The center of the Onyx Order is centered around the preservation of knowledge. This is because their people's evolution was always centered on a closely knit community where their stories where initially passed down orally before the Onyx written word was established. With the written word established the Onyxscaled became devoted to the preservation and continued growth of knowledge.

They also highly value the ideals of family. Where they continue to support both sides of their families even after marriage. If a family grows large enough they will go out and found a new library hall of their own allowing their family to grow.

In a nation centered on knowledge you would imagine that what truly happened would become an issue and the Onyx are no exception to that. But they have several safeguards in place to defend against bias. The first being that every work is co-written by at least 3 authors with 5 or even 7 being needed for more important works. Then the work is proofread by key eyewitnesses and then finally gaining the final stamp of approval by the High-Knowledge Keeper.

The Onyx Order seeks to catalogue as much information as they can. While this is generally widely accepted by most species some find it to be breach of privacy. This has lead to several fights over information and a war between them and the Nines Republic. Because of the Onyxscaled's affinity with the flame some areas of their nation have been dedicated to forges. While not a primary goal of the Order they use their smelting capabilities as their major export.
