Art of Mercury

Welcome to Solaris, traveller! This is a slower-than-light science fantasy set in our own solar system.

Icon depicting the planet Mercury

Mercury has always been at the mercy of the sun. Rendered dull and moonlike by the harsh sunlight, the planet was host to insectoid people and creatures. Today it is continually battered by solar pulses, and only the hardiest can hope to cling on.

Author's Notes

Sometimes I don't feel like I've drawn much at all, and then I start on a gallery page. I hope to make a page like this for each planet and each main character, and hopefully those'll be faster.   This might seem like a pretty simple article, but as I make the gallery pages I update every image linked to add a description, a list of articles it's referenced in, and so on. You can click on any of the images to see, and then you might want to try clicking on the tags in them and see what else you can find.

Ooo I love the idea of a gallery page for each planet. I really love your use of colours. <3

This is gorgeous, and all the extra effort you put in to linking everything together is incredible. My favorite Mercury art so far is probably the Mori. So elegant, so cozy, so soft.

Your art style is so good... evocative, unique, really blends a quaintness with something that somehow resonates quite deep. Looking forward to the webcomic!

This is a really neat idea, and I'm glad you shared a look at how much work is involved in your Author's Note. I sensed there was a lot of work and care put into this, but that Author's Note provided great additional insight.

Thank you! I've been trying to use the authors note a bit more to give a peek behind the scene.
