The Pledge
I pledge to write 50,000 words for WorldEmber this year! I'm hoping to work on some fiction, expand some subs, and maybe serialize some of my D&D campaigns into something coherent!
I also want to work on the side business that I started last year, but has been languishing as IRL gets dumber and crazier!
Past WorldEmbers
This will be my seventh World Ember! I'm super proud of everything I've accomplished in the past with this event and I'm SO looking forward to what I'll create this year. I technically joined in 2019, but I didn't know what WorldEmber even was or what I could do with World Anvil yet!
The Prep Bingo
This year, World Anvil has given us some homework in a fun CYA bingo method! Here's mine!
Review or collect your world inspirations
Refresh your author profile to prepare for an influx of new readers
Create a moodboard for your area of focus
DoneReview or set up your world homepage
Review your category tree and organize any unorganized articles
DoneI didn't overhaul everything, but I did go through and rearrange and re-categorize my Events & Challenges categories. It was a good test of the new article and category tools!
Tidy up your writing space
Define the scope of your worldbuilding for WorldEmber
Review or create your primer article
DoneI've been putting off an overhaul of my Primer this whole year, but I took this opportunity to do a revision. I took the css I made for this exact bingo card and used it for the KCZ section in the Primer! Take a look.
Find an accountability buddy
DoneI reached out to my hard-working and super busy friend E. Christopher Clark, the Anvil-famous eccbooks! He graciously agreed and now we're two Chris' in a cozy pod of World Ember-y goodness. Please go check out his work if you haven't gotten the chance.
Here are my personal copies of his comic, "The Blood of Seven Queens". I'm so proud of him and it's so cool that he has actual physical books and comics printed! Having my printed work in hand is definitely a life goal of mine.

Finish all articles you've started this month before December
DoneFinishing all articles might be too much to ask for, but I've had an article about the Golden Slice and poor Jasper Thorne in my head since September. I'm glad I finally finished it! Please excuse the placeholder header and images!

The inspiration for this layout! I adapted the funtionality from Stormbril's incredible Enhanced Spoilers!

Prepare visual elements for your articles
Make a list of stubs you'd like to expand
Plan your worldbuilding playlist
Make a list of articles you want to write
DoneI've been working on articles about each of the regions in the Kirinal Concordance Zones. They're called the "slices" since they look like pieces of pizza or pie. Here's a list of current and upcoming articles.
Plan your writing schedule
DoneAs I mentioned on the stream when I was a guest last week, I have cleared up my mornings before work with the extremely economical and easy lifehack of buying my kid a car so he can drive himself and his brother to school.
I can now take an hour before work for writing! Cheap, easy, and highly recommended! (This is sarcasm, in case you can't tell.)
What kind of people can you find in your worldbuilding area?
Do some research about the topics you'll write about
Re-read your core articles
DoneBeen re-reading too many articles to put here, but I did some work on the images for my Days of the Week articles

Review the visual appearance of your world
DoneI dabbled with Midjourney for a few months when it first came out, but decided pretty quickly that the "sameiness" of the images wasn't for me. That was at a time when the consensus on AI art hadn't fully solidified. I've since sworn off it, but I have quite a few assets out there that I generated with MJ. Going forward, I'm only using stock images, commissioned art, art that I've created myself, or art that I've been gifted.
I took this homework assignment as a chance to go back and start replacing the AI art with art I'm sourcing from other places. I'm especially enamored by the art of Tithi Luadthong, aka grandfailure that I get from Deposit Photos. I'm using a ton of their art that I'm getting from there.
What adjectives would you describe your world with?

Best of luck with your 50k goal!

Thank you! It's a big bite, but I'm willing to fall short if it's too insane!
