Trupi Gide ('tru-pi 'gi-de)
Chisicchiche Trupi Gide
Trupi Gide was a renowned chisicchi, who died only a few decades ago. She was the first female chisicchi as well as the first female fuachisicchi in Nulmagion history. She would revolutionize the profession and change the prospects for women like herself, opening up for discussions about equality and work opportunities. Her life was spent in the service of the crown, but her drive was more than just a duty; it was a need for knowledge and a burning interest in other cultures. Most of the information available about her come from her own first hand source: her journals which she meticulously wrote during her travels, as well as when she served as fuachisicchi
And if I showed them that I was afraid, would they not come to doubt me? All my life people had doubted my ability and I was not about to give them another reason to.
Biography
Childhood
Trupi was born in Sambano Ame 15th in 823 as the youngest mira of Chilette Fileppo Gide and Isabila Liste. Being the youngest of five mira, and having no older tuso, her padrase and madrasi worked very hard to get her eldest tusa married off to a rich and powerful man who would take care of the family's possessions. They did not have much time over for the marriages of their younger mira and especially not the youngest.
And so, Trupi found herself able to pursue whatever she wanted, instead of learning to be a lady and finding a husband. Her curiosity for everything that was different made her interested in the work of a chisicchi. Of course, she had many obstacles to overcome before she could even begin to study for it, not the least of which being that women were not allowed to go to school.
Her cousin, Fabinote, gave her books to read from his own studies when he decided to change course and study medicine instead. It was thanks to this that she could study the subject at home by herself. She also studied both Uimben nudumba and Ueca during this time.
After reaching the marrying age in 837, instead of finding a vencu, she petitioned the nio himself that she should be able to take the lezziu to become a chiro. She was allowed to take the test and passed.
Journey to Pese
Trupi's first journey as chiro was a relatively easy one. A trip over to the Scuganuran capital to gather information for the Lebrogua back at home to make an updated city map. The old map of Pese was made in 556, and the city had grown and changed a lot since then. Trupi was chosen as one of five chiro to go with Chisicchi Ciuzzie on this trip because of her excellent knowledge of Uimben nudumba. She was chosen by the fuachisicchi despite the many protests from Ciuzzie as well as the other chiro, who did not want to have to take care of a woman on their expedition.
Trupi would prove herself to be a very useful asset, however. Ciuzzie, who was less fluent in Uimben nudumba than he liked to believe, would make a disasterous mispronounciation when addressing the Chibenan Mune in Pese. Instead of asking for permission to draw the city for the people in Sambano and talk to the townspeople, he asked for permission to drag the city back to Sambano and blame the townspeople. There was a lot of shouting and swords drawn before Trupi got the attention of the Mune and convinced them that it was all a misunderstandning. After that debacle, the other chiro begrudgingly acknowledged that Trupi wouldn't be much of a burden for them, despite her female-ness. Ciuzzie, however, was not pleased, and would make life hard for Trupi over the next few years.
It was also during this trip that Trupi and Iamlinan met for the first time. Some people say that they was the love of her life, but this has never been proven. They would however be great sachi until her death.

The Craio Tunnel
In 840, Trupi was sent with Ciuzzie to the Craio Tunnel, to determine whether it was big enough to pass through after a rockfall that had happened in the tunnel a few months earlier. This was a far more dangerous affair, since no one knew if the tunnel was even safe to pass through anymore. They made it to the Craio Tunnel Nodo 9th, 840 and entered it the next day. Trupi was sent by Ciuzzie to scout ahead and make sure the tunnel was not going to cave in on them. According to Trupi's journal from the expedition, she was so scared she debated turning back and giving up on her career, but did not want to prove everyone right and so she went on despite her fear. Of course, the tunnel did not cave in, and she could return alive to Ciuzzie's disappointment.
Not much was discovered during this journey. They measured the width and height of the tunnel at the narrowest parts. When they got out in Ulmagia, on the other side of the tunnel, Ciuzzie wrote to the fuachisicchi that the tunnel was narrower but that it still could be used. The journey took them nearly four months and the letter was dated Ioso 34th.

The Eigien Adventure
Trupi's first journey as chisicche was to Eigie in 855. It was the first time she was the leader of the expedition, as well as the first time she went somewhere she did not know the language. One of her chiro, Lanzie, was going to act as her translator, and she writes in her journal from that trip, how hard it was for her to have to rely on someone like that. Lanzie would become a dear sachi during this expedition, but they had quite a rough start according to Trupi's journal. She admits that she made it quite difficult for him.
They left on the geltro, Ciana Chivezzo from the port in Coramurove on A 19th and arrived in the port of Ioipche 29 days later, on Nodo 9th. The purpose of the expedition was to learn more about the Donogra and their ways, to be able to establish trading with them in the future. They were met in Ioipche by someone who would guide them to the capital to meet with their leaders.1 They climbed up on an unstable ladder and then they went over several bridges for hours before they came to a town. The houses were built into and around the trees a hundred meters up in the air. Trupi wrote in her journal that she had never seen anything like it. They continued to travel for several days before they finally made it to Ginma.
The leaders welcomed them to their land and held a feast in their honor. It turned out the food was poisoned with a sleeping draught and the whole party passed out. Trupi woke several days later in an unfamiliar room. Her belongings were right beside her bed and when she tried to open up the door, it was unlocked. The leaders had wanted to test their company, because according to their belief, the sleeping draught could only be survived by people who have pure intentions. The party had all survived, so they had passed the test. Trupi wrote in her journal that she was angry because it had cost them valuable time, but she was glad that they had been able to win the people's trust so easily.
They spent over a year in Eigie, learning their ways of living, their beliefs, and the materials they valued. They told the Eigien people of metals and stone, that they could use to build stronger structures and make weapons. The reason that the Eigiens live in the trees is because of the monstrous animals that stalk the ground; filanse larger than a wagon, provlo with teeth larger than a human arm. "If you touch the ground you are dead", Trupi writes in her journal. Trupi's first expedition as chisicchi was a great success, and Nulmagio was able to start trading with Eigie the year after.
Time in Scuganuran
Trupi spent 858 864 learning the ways of the Chinuche. Most of what we know about their biology and beliefs today are things that Trupi wrote in the letters she sent back home to the Fuachisicchi or in her journal. Trupi became close with Iamlinan. How close is impossible to tell, but since the Chinuche have no sex organs, we know that their relationship cannot have been of a sexual nature. The years spent in Scuganuran are described by Trupi as her "happiest years", something that some tresase have argued would be because of her relationship with Iamlinan.
Besides it being her "happiest years", it was also her most productive. The letters she wrote to the fuachisicchi provided Nulmagio with invaluable information about the Chinuche and how to best establish a relationship with them and gain access to their nuran. The relationship also provided an easier way to deliver goods to Cascinu that before had to be delivered by the sea. Since the waters to the south of the continent are dangerous and often stormy, many fremo used to get lost or destroyed before the way through Scuganuran opened up, thanks to Trupi's work.
The First Female Fuachissichi
It was late in 864 when the old fuachissichi died and the nio and his chiguireche had to choose a new one. There were four candidates and one of them was Trupi. She left Scuganuran when she got word, and would never see Iamlinan again. She returned to Vendarica Merda 14th to be tested by the nio along with the others, and she was the one who was ultimately chosen in 865. Her padrase was long dead by this point, but her tusa's vencu was also a chiguireche, and because of this some tresase have argued that she was not chosen because of her work, but because of her connections. There is, however, no evidence of this.
Trupi was the fuachisicchi for twenty-two years, until her death. She made many changes to the organisation of the chisicchi, not the least of which being to urge the nio to change the law so that women could enter the schools and train to become chesicchi.
She organised the filing system of all the discoveries, so that they were sorted by place and date, instead of explorer.
She made a new system for tracking discoveries that could potentially be outdated, so that she could send explorers to check.
She established connections with several nations2, so that explorers could be helped to survive and communicate once there.
She also made the lebrogua into a seperate branch, since there was "no reason for me to order them around when I have no idea what their work even is."

Death
In 886, Trupi got Quenzi's Cough and could not get out of bed for weeks. It was not a deadly disease, so it surprised everyone when her cieda found her dead when she went to empty the bedpan on the evening of Iedo 9th. There were many speculations about what she died of, and some thought she might have been murdered. The grirco said that she had destroyed her troat coughing and choked to death on blood. A truly gruesome way to go and a tragedy for Nulmagia as a whole. She was mourned by the two of her tusa who were still alive, and by Iamlinan, we must assume, but we do not know much about their life after Trupi's death.
Legacy
Besides the things that this text has already mentioned, many important things would be revealed when Trupi's journals were found after her death. She had many ideas for better travel routs through both Scuganuran and Eigie.
She had written down ideas for how to approach the Titubro people, and what trade opportunities there may be there.
There were also things about the Donogra that she had not written in her letters, that the journals described. These were not seen as very important by anyone but certain tresase who found it fascinating.

Trupi's hard work and success in the field also inspired many women to sign up to the training, which had finally become available to them. The profession had an immense increase of women and only twenty-five years after her death, the profession would have a female majority.
It also opened up discussions about women in other types of professions, but these discussions has met a heavy backlash from the fevi and from the chiguireche, who have warned that if women are allowed to get dangerous professions, there will be a steep fall in child births, something that the already decreasing population does not need.

History
Jamlinan and Trupi met for the first time in 838 when Trupi was in Pese as a Chiro. Trupi and Jamlinan liked each other immediately, perhaps because they were close in age, but also because they both felt deeply that they didn't belong. Jamlinan was a Kibenan Mune, but had not been found until they was 11, and had begun their training later than the other Mune. Trupi was the only woman in her chosed field, and was constantly picked on by her colleagues.

Her favourite language was Uimben nudumba, and it was the one she was the next best at, since she spent a lot of time in Scuganuran.
She also knows enough Scau and Uace to get around, but not enough to write in Scau, or to have lengthy discussions in Uace.
