Elves

The Firstborn of Aea are the elves, also known as the Skyborn. They are the longest-lived of the Sympatic Lineages, able to live out a millennium, barring accident, illness or violence. This is balanced by a low reproductive rate, and elven population growth is slow to zero in most populations. This situation is in part maintained by a societal refusal to own half-elven children, who are usually born to one elf and one human. In purely elven societies, children ar considered mature between twenty-five and thirty years old, but in the company of shorter-lived lineages this is more likely to be brought in line with physical and emotional maturity, which is reached between fifteen and twenty.   Elves are a gracile lineage wih light bones and a slight frame. They are noted for fine features, large eyes and long, pointed ears, fine hair and little to no body or facial hair. Their eyes are structured like a cat's, with vertical pupils, deep tear ducts and a reflecting layer behind the retina. Their night vision and hearing are both acute. They have an unmatched ability to digest vegetable-based foods, but a limited capacity for meat.  

Ethnic Groups

The idigenous elven population of Boriya is split between the pro-civilisation High Elves and the wilderness-loving Wood Elves. A number of expeditions before the Earth War established colonies in Erask, under the authority of the Dragons, and those who still occupy those colonies are known as Dark Elves. Other expeditions discovered and occupied the atoll of Eldaran, and their descendents are called Sea Elves.
