Dragons

The True Dragons were among the primordial occupants of Galath. Alongisde the immortal Giants, they were the first order of material being. The Dragons were said to have been created when the divine elements interacted with the material at five sites known as the Elemental Nexuses, resulting in five pairs of titanic guardians, who were given custodianship of the continent now known as Erask. They possessed the spark of true Divinity, as gods do and were as gods to the Eraskan lineages. Unlike gods, they had physical forms, but were not capable of reproduction. Instead, they fashioned eggs, each of which would hatch between three and five Dragonborn.
In this time, Erask was divided between the territories of the ten Dragons, and three giant eorldoms in the central mountains. After millennia of coexistence, the Giants and the Dragons came into conflict in the so-called Earth War. This clash devastated the entire continent, sinking much of the coastal plane. In the aftermath, the Dragons withdrew from the world, but despite being the most powerful beings in the world, they were not indestructible. Two of their number were slain; the rest became divided as to their response and broke their council, each retreating into the Primeval Wilderness to create their own hidden realms.

Fire Dragons

The most powerful of all the Dragons were birthed from the Otherfire at the nexus called the Crucible of Purifying Flame. Although their substance was cleansed of its corrupting influence in the process of their creation, they still possess great power and fury, with passions as fierce as their burning breath.

Jhiev the Lawgiver
The Golden Dragon, born from Otherfire and the light of Pi, is the bright, implacable fury of the law defied, and the passion for order and truth. Called the dragon of the bright morning, she laid down the Dragonrule, the law of all Dragons, and also gave the Dragonborn the bulk of their legal codes. After the Earth War, she withdrew to former giant lands, and a lair in the slopes of Mount Coriola in Coris.
The dragonborn of Jhiev were created to be judges, magistrates and statesfolk, although their passions often ran away with them.

Masyrn the Burning Voice
Born from Otherfire purified by the darkness of To, the Red Dragon bears a passion for independence, and unbreakable will. The dragon of burning stone is not a chaotic being; rather, he represents a justice higher than either law or lawlessness. Having slain the Eorl of Hadhlen during the war, he withdrew to the volcanic caverns of Mount Fyren.
Red dragonborn were originally orators, liberators and, as needed, freedom fighters, but were ever plagued by their own impatience and tempers.

Ice Dragons

The Dragons born from the waters are known for deep thoughts and calculated action. They were created Maelstrom Cauldron to be as cool as the Fire Dragons were passionate.

Elistar the Bitter Truth
The Silver Dragon is the dragon of frost and starlight, a pragmatist of few passions and cool, hard logic. They eschew all emotional motivations in favour of clear thinking, but in doing so deny the essential complexities of the world. In the scattering, they settled in a magically-protected garden amidsts the frozen wastes of Hybor.
Their dragonborn were made to be logicians and strategists of the first order, but their fatal flaw of arrogance sullied their work.

Ifnora the Bleak Winter
Called the White Dragon, Ifnora was the dragon of moonlight and dark waters, her scales bright by day and depthless black by night. Calculating, cynical and as paranoid as an immortal divinity could be, she was the leading figure of the Earth War on the draconic side. Although she survived the war, legends of her hoard of giantish wealth below the tundra of Arathist drew the attention of treasure hunters, who killed her in her long slumber.
Her dragonborn were warriors, but infected by their creator's paranoia they tend to see enemies everywhere.

Tempest Dragons

The Dragons created from the brief majesty of lightning are swift of thought and highly inventive. They were born in a nexus called the Lightning Forge.

Tollerna the Just Rebuke
Many saw only an implacable, inflexible nature in the Bronze Dragon. Known as the dragon of the evening, he is just, without fear or favour, but also wihtout mercy or empathy. Tollerna became consumed by vengeance after the deaths of Gerudan and Ifnora, striking out at any mortal or giant who seemed a threat. Grievously wounded in battle with a group of storm giants, Tollerna retreated to a lair beneath the Shadowed Sea. it is said that he will emerge in response to a cry for justice, if the wrong is great enough.
His dragonborn were intended to be agents of justice, but many gained a reputation as cruel and dogmatic inquisitors.

Culstara the Gleaming Mind
While the Blue Dragon was the dark half of the Tempest pairing, she has an openness that her bright counterpart lacks. The dragon of dancing waves has a hunger for knowledge and a love of mechanisms and inventions, filling her hoard less with gold than with a library and collection of gears and wheels and contraptions of all kinds, which has become one of the most saught-after of all hoards. In the scattering, Culstara took up residence on an island in the Aisling Ocean and, once her library and collection were safely installed in her palace there, she sank the island to keep it from the eyes of those questing expeditions, leaving only a lonely tower projecting above the waves.
Her dragonborn were made to be sages and tinkerers, with the goal of increasing her collection.

Wind Dragons

Born from the air in a nexus called the Hurricane Cradle, the Wind Dragons are changeable of aspect and mercurial of nature. Their weapons of choice are words, language and magic.

Gerudan the Labyrinthine Mind
It was said of the Copper Dragon that his brilliance was a snare that would one day choke him, and that he could argue anyone in circle, even himself. Whether the dragon of burning noon was slain by ambush, or by some of the mortals he invited into his lair to discuss philosophy, art and science, it is acknowledged by most that he should have kept some secrets closer.
His dragonborn are likewise philosophers, disputants and scientists.

Merylfain the Jade Masque
None could accuse the Green Dragon of being loose with her secrets. The dragon of the forest shadows truned her intellect to magic and the nature of reality, and came to believe that all things, including herself, had no objective existence. As such, she changes her aspect and her nature day by day, and shares her secrets with no one, almost as a kindness. Few know where she went after the scattering, and some say that she is dead, but many suspect that she would have retreated into the forests of Tiefa, which she bequeathed to the Tieflings.
The green dragonborn were created to be spies, illusionists and magicians. Some of them speak of Merylfain's Basilisk, a secret so terrible that it can destroy the mind of any who learns it.

Stone Dragons

The earth-born Dragons emerged from the Vault of Flowing Stone, solid of body and spirit; stubborn and inflexible, but true as oak. They are the firmest of friends, and the most implacable of foes.

Jhentho the Gentle Strength
The Brass Dragon was ever the mediator of dragonkind. The dragon of red sands prefers talk to violence, but has never been unable to back their judgements with force if necessary. After the scattering, they made their home in the desert caverns in the highlands of Isha.
They bred their dragonborn to be ambassadors and arbitrators.

Haliash the Tenebrous Shield
The Black Dragon is and ever was the most territorial of all the Dragons, and the most protective of her kin. With the deaths of Ifnora and Gerudan, however, the dragon of ebon shadows has become insular and remote, withdrawing from the concerns of the world. After the deaths of Gerudan and Ifnora, along with the black dragonborn assigned to their defence, Haliash retreated into the swamps of Carif and fortified her lair against all intruders, or visitors.
Her dragonborn were bred as sentinels, and many remain as the protectors of her lair.

Other Dragons

There were only ever ten Dragons, and now there are eight. This is the stated position of the Dragons and of the dragonborn, but rumours will abound in the face of any certainty.

Half-Dragons
Half-dragons are the result of a Sympatic mortal making a pact with a dragon and being invested with a fragment of their power. That mortal's next child will be a half-dragon, although what exactly that means will vary from individual to individual. All possess some degree of draconic power - magic, elemental breath or elemental resistance - and draconic aspect - scales, wings, tail, physiognomy. These children are often claimed by their draconic 'parent' to act as an envoy in the world beyond their lairs.

Lesser Dragons
Lesser Dragons share aspects of the draconic form, but not their full might, power or intellect. Most of them are bestial in intelligence.

The Eleventh Dragon
The legends of the Kobolds speak of an eleventh dragon who fashioned the first kobold eggs. In addition, there are legends in many parts of the world of dragons with scales like gemstones.
