Sea Elves

The sea elves colonised the atoll of Eldaran many generations past. They now rule a mercantile republic led by a divine president who enters into a fifty year sacred marriage to one of the three gods of Eldaran, and an annual union with the sea which is restored each year in a great festival. The majority of sea elves are sailors, merchants and occasional pirates, as well as a rich tradition of ship-building. Although socially cosmopolitan, sea elves are deeply intolerant of mixed-lineage children.   As a matter of practicality, sea elves add fish and shellfish to their diets, as well as marine vegetation.   Sea elves tend to have dark skin and fair hair. Their eyes are narrow, as much from a lifetimeof squinting into the sun as from genetics.
