Dark Elves
During the Earth War, the elves of the Eraskan colonies adopted a nocturnal lifestyle, using their superior night vision to avoid the Giantings. Known as a result as dark elves, they became isolationist, keeping to their own communities, and they have a traditional mistrust of mixed lineages. The largest dark elf communities are those which found a place in the caves of the Eraskan mountains, developing extensive networks of subterranean highways to connect them. Here they have developed a reputation as smiths to rival even the dwarfs.
This lifestyle does not lend itself to farming, and so the dark elves are of necessity omnivores. Their diet includes mostly meat and mushrooms, along with what vegetables they are able to grow in their limited surface holdings. Fortunately, they are able to extract a great deal of nutrition from small portions of vegetables.
Because of their subterranean lifestyle, dark elves tend to be pale, but with dark hair and eyes. From their food, it is not unknown for them to absorb a limited amount of bioluminescence.
