The Silk Lake

The Silk Lake lies, near The Gahara, in the Underdark of Ru'Than underneath the Northern Isle, of the planet of Esau.

Tunnels of magical darkness links Ru'Than, The Undersea and Ru'Mal together.

The Silk Lake is so named because when the water is still, it looks like a large piece of midnight blue silk. The heated waters are only filled by sunken vessels and creatures from the depths of the lake. No one swims in the lake.

Around the edge of the lake grows Fungus; both Blacklight Toadstools and Jellyfish Mushrooms, which frequently glow like lanterns.

Coming out of the steps' tunnel from The Gahara or The tunnel of the Northern Silver Mine, that lead up to secret entrances into Hyon and Janney, the view of the wide magical-looking lake is a delightful surprise. Across the water is the lit up city of Kyspar. A place of great beauty and wealth.

Kyspar City leads into the rest of the Ru'Than. The Underdark is full of beings not seen of the surface. In the waters of the land are creatures of myths.

FOUNTAIN

On the edge of the Silk Lake is four tier fountain made of grey granite stone, that seems to grow up from the ground. Around the edge is the symbols of Tymora (Goddess of Luck)
Any creature that drinks from The Fountain experiences a random magical effect, determined by rolling a 1d6 and consulting the Magic Fountain Effects table.
Water removed from the fountain and stored in a container retains its magical properties, and a different effect occurs each time someone drinks from the container. Under the scrutiny of a detect magic spell or similar effect, the fountain radiates an aura of transmutation magic.
Magic Fountain Effects
ROLL 1d6
1 = The creature who drinks the water must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw - taking 8d10 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If this damage reduces the creature to 0 hit points, it dies and turns to dust.
2 = The creature who drinks the water loses the ability to see for 1d8 hours. A lesser restoration spell or similar magic ends this effect.
3 = The creature who drinks the water magically changes race - Genasi (roll 1d6 for type). A greater restoration spell restores the creature's original race, as does another drink from the fountain that yields this same result.
4 = The creature who drinks the water becomes a chatty drunk as if been Drinking in a tavern - for 1 hour
5 = The creature who drinks the water gain 1d6 Good Berries inside their palm.
6 The creature who drinks the water gains 2d10 temporary hit points for 1d12 hours.

ROWBOATS

There are three abandoned rowboats have the names Devour, Harrow and Hush etched into the stern. A detect magic spell or similar effect reveals an aura of transmutation magic around each vessel.
Each boat can hold up to four Small or Medium creatures and their gear, and each contains two oars, an empty wooden bucket, and a 50-foot-long coil of hempen rope. People can do some Fishing while aboard.
Devour = Creatures aboard have advantage on attack rolls while the boat is in the water. A filled bullseye lantern hangs off the boat's bow, and a fishing line.
Harrow = Creatures aboard have advantage on saving throws while the boat is in the water - no light source and a fishing line.
Hush = Creatures aboard are under the silence condition - hooded lantern to be held, and a fishing line.

BLACK OBELISK

The glow of this can be seen like a dark beacon above Kyspar city from across the Silk Lake.

History

For a long time before over surface dwellers knew anything of Ru'Mal, the Wild Dwarves who reside within parts of the Echo Woods had long travelled across the Dusk Quagmire through Odd, and down The Gahara - to reach the Silk Lake.
There is the Witch Doctor named Maelis Bitterbloom - a Wild Dwarf who resides in Odd, owns a store The Wiccan. They are renown by most people in the area.
The Wild Dwarves dark-skinned, short and stout - very short light brown hair - with dark brown eyes - have dark skin covered by tattoos, and grease to ward off insects. They travel to The Silk Lake to hunt Bioluminescence jellyfish and collect various Fungus and mushrooms - making them the best guides, of the surface dwellers, into Ru'Than .

Flint and Cobble (Earth Genasi), Urmrig Rockbones and Sardryn Rockbones (father and daughter of the Mountain Dwarves Clan of Rockbones), and Lorsan Cralar (High Elves male) had made a pact when the large silver mine was first discovered between Hyon and Janney ... Northern Silver Mine.

They each owned some of the land that the silver mine weaved through, so they became partners. Deeds to the mine still exist - created on undamageable parchment.

The towns of Hyon and Janney expanded as work in the mines continued. The mine entrances remained secret to those who did not live in either town - and now is forgotten by most locals.

The discovery of the mineral vein and proceeding cutting of the steps brought new surprises. No one thought of the Underdark existing underneath of The Northern Isle. The existence of Ru'Mal had already been discovered - it was then thought there could only be a singular region of the underdark.

The small boat to get across the Silk Lake had to be built on the shore. Once water-worthy, as well as able to handle suck heat, the five companions travelled across. The discovery of the tree covered in Dark Plums made the Earth Genasi and Dwarves nervous - none of the knew what it was. However, the High Elves ate keenly - believing it their 'right' and his greed that came along side his wealth took hold within days. His companions watched disapproving of his behaviour.

His greed became jealousy and distrust.
