The villagers were killed in a manner which seemed to be insulting to them culturally together with seemingly ritualistic cannibalism. The Mercs discovered a map which seemed to point them further along to another location that Lizardfolk were operating.
The Mercs find themselves at a shrine within The Floating Mangroves where Lizardfolk supported by a Drow cleric were subduing a guardian of the shrine. Nameless BAA with the help of Metgro snuck up on the Lizardfolk group and managed to free the, angry, guardian. After a short but brutal battle, The Mercs won, but not without casualties.

Metgro being the main survivor from his original party tries to make his way back to Point of Nematu and relative safety, this does not happen. First getting lost, and then finding a chaotic flying ship, Metgro follows the ship a bit and then finds a set of goblins playing an odd card game. After an ill-advised attack, Metgro and his helpers find themselves drawn to play this card game with the Corbies. After a series of draws, Metgro finds himself bereft of his magic items, Damiel is targed for death by Imrijka and two new mercs descend from the ship, one getting his soul stolen, and the other relatively unscathed. The Mercs figure out how to find the soul of their one compatriot, and due to a poorly asked for wish find themselves in Nemkrantin instead of Point of Nematu .
Metgro , Marshall, and Grah become infused with the divine essence of a plague goddess and become The Infected. Where they the only ones exposed?
The Mercs bolstered by an official invitation arrive at the Accidental Temple as "Jack"'s invitation and attend the celebration. The existing members of Cult of Zyphus in Nemkrantin are in attendance and believe that it is to be an event resulting in the partnership of Zyphus and The Betrayed. The entire time there is a giant metal cauldron / box which is being heated at the apex of the main temple room. In an act of betrayal "Jack" finishes a spell that results in the death of all of the Cult of Zyphus members, excepting Marshal, the cauldron splits open in a bright flash, an attack on "Jack" shows him to actually be a Daemon, and The Mercs now infused with the divine essence of The Betrayed flee the temple.
The Infected arrive back at the Accidental Temple in Nemkrantin finding the Daemon who was controlling Jack's body in the midst of writing on the walls surrounded by gore. They overcome the Daemon and investigate the writings, getting strong clues about the potential location of The Betrayed's old temple.
Trying to get more background on The Betrayed The Infected track down a group of bards who collect historical and other information. Upon arrival they defuse a tense situation with a crowd attempting to storm the compound and proceed to engage with the group, The Rhyming Lyras, to learn more information.
With the plague worsening in the city and any semblance of controlling it out the window the city's infrastructure begins to break down as people isolate themselves in an attempt to survive, resulting in the city effectively being shut down. It becomes publicly known that most divine magic is unable to have any real impact on the spread or course of the disease as the bodies start to pile up.
The Infected head towards an Abandoned Mansion to further investigate goings-ons related to their current mission, finding a number of undead and interrupting a summoning, Metgro disrupts the gate, resulting in a large amount of damage to the summoned creature. The Infected also find three tomes, discovering they are a tome of Elvish Religion and History, a tome of Dwarvish Religion and History, and a Book of Kel'sindra's Teachings

Traveling along the route at the bottom of Elshedria's Breach, the party is ambushed by some Eldritch Angler Fish Horror Thing, and soundly thrashed. Marshal is swallowed whole, dragged off to the Ethereal Plane, and digested. The creature seemed to be waiting in ambush for something to come along following the path the party was.
The Infected get into a fight with Elshedria and are defeated, captured, and experimented on.
