Westport, City of

Westport is a bustling medium-sized city situated on the Northwest coast of Thyronia, serving as one of the primary ports to access Northern Thyronia from the West. Due to the generally poor quality of ports along the vast majority of the Western coast, Westport holds strategic importance as a gateway to the northern reaches of the Kingdom of Nematu. However, maritime access beyond Westport is impeded by the presence of The Maelstrom, a colossal whirlpool that draws seawater into vast subterranean caverns, rendering boat travel to the north impractical and dangerous.   To ensure maritime safety and provide protection against potential threats, a series of forts are strategically positioned to the north of Westport. These forts serve a dual purpose as lighthouses, guiding ships safely through treacherous waters, and as defensive strongholds to ward off any hostile incursions.   To the east of Westport lies Nordvralfrvriki, an Elvish kingdom that falls under the influence and protection of The Gold Compact. The capital city of Nordvralfrvriki is Midborg, a compact and well-fortified city encircled by tall, formidable walls. Midborg stands as a testament to Elvish craftsmanship and strategic planning, offering both security and a vibrant center for governance, culture, and commerce within Nordvralfrvriki.   The proximity of Westport to Nordvralfrvriki fosters trade and cultural exchange between the Kingdom of Nematu and the Elvish kingdom, strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between the two realms.
