Druid Circles of Clonmeath

There are five main circles of druids in Clonmeath , with a fledgling circle formed in mid 1267. They are the Circle of the Moon, the Circle of the Soil, the Circle of the Leaf, the Circle of the Sea, the Circle of the Claw, and the Circle of the Fang, with the Circle of the Fang being the new addition.   Each has their own history, beliefs, and responsibilities in Clonmeath, but they coexist peacefully and are led by a single Archdruid who is selected by the leaders of each of the circles. One of the few things that the druids have in common is that they all commonly have members leave the city to join the House of Roses in their quest to keep the world safe from corruption.

Circle of the Claw

This Circle focuses on animal transformations and combat. They tend to be more aggressive than the other circles, if only due to their more bestial specialty. Aside from their normal druidic duties (which for them is almost always teaching others how to use various druidic weaponry), they protect the walls of the city and have a good relationship with the city guards. It is a commonly accepted rule that if something is too much to handle for the guards, the druids of the claw are brought in.

Circle of the Fang

An offshoot of the Circle of the Claw, having just been legitimized by Flax Egojur in the middle of 1267 A.S., the circle of the fang is just as combat ready as the Circle of the Claw. Their main difference is their ideology. The druids of the fang reject political schemes and work entirely off of merit. Their official duty is to protect the lands just outside of the city walls, creating a comfortable distance between them and the other Circles. Both sides see this as a blessing.

Circle of the Leaf

Members of the Circle of the Leaf are gifted in the art of healing and providing succor to those in need. They are also in charge of many of the rites and rituals required to maintain the Greatwood trees and are masters of the art of woodsinging (making a tree grow into another form, such as a sculpture or piece of furniture, while maintaining its life and ability to thrive). They also sometimes make magical scrolls to sell for extra funding.  Members of this circle can commonly be found in hospitals, relief efforts, or workshops as they work to make the world a better place.

Circle of the Moon

The Circle of the Moon is in charge of history keeping and enforcing punishment. If a druid breaks a rule held in one of the Circles, such as teaching someone the druid language, they are sent to this circle for a trial. Aside from judging rule breakers, this Circle also teaches the druid language to new members. Though all druids can teach it, learning from the Circle of the Moon will make a person fluent in less than two months. They are known for keeping their most sacred books inside of a small pocket dimension held in place by the Gossamer Tree, a large magical tree similar to the Greatwoods in that it can store vast amounts of magic inside it, though it lacks the ability to channel the magic outside of itself like the Greatwoods can.

Circle of the Sea

This Circle watches over the docks and waterways in and around the city. They ensure that there is no over-fishing and that nothing poisons the water. Oftentimes druids of the Circle of the Sea will join sailors in a voyage, particularly if it involves being on the open water. Members of the Circleoverlap heavily with devout followers of Artival, and several clerics began their journey as a druid here. Despite having an important role in the city they are the second smallest of the druid Circles and are often overlooked.

Circle of the Soil

The Circle of the Soil is in charge of most of the agriculture in the city. Since there is limited space, they often help speed of growth cycles to ensure enough is grown to feed everyone. There are very few people in the city left hungry in Clonmeath thanks to their efforts, and without them the city would require to import vast amounts of fruits and vegetables to keep the city from starving. Of all of the Circles, the circle of the soil is the busiest and most important to the city's survival.

Structure

The six circles are led by the Archdruid, who speaks for the group as a whole. Under the archdruid are the leaders of each circle, called high druids, who usually have a couple of lieutenants. The hierarchy is more rigid in some circles than others, depending on its function. The circle of the sea, for instance, is far more lax in approach to leadership than the circle of the claw, which is militaristic and requires more defined roles.

Culture

Druids in every circle revere nature and seek to preserve wildlife.  Some do this by nurturing, some by teaching, and some by removing obstacles, but every druid in some way desires to live symbiotically with their environment.   Most circles also know much about the rites and rituals surrounding the elemental plane and the feywild, where most get their power from.  Because of this, each circle has specific holidays that they follow in order to appease their patrons.

Public Agenda

The druid circles are the pseudo-government of Clonmeath. They technically have very little say in regional politics, but their strong cultural influence ensures that any law passed in the city has their public approval. This has allowed them to become fairly independent while maintaining the military aid of Hazra.
