Archdruid
The highest ranking title for the druid circles of Clonmeath and leader of them all.
Qualifications
The Archdruid's only qualifications of magical prowess are that they may pass through the wards that protect the greatwoods and touch the tree itself.
They must also possess skill in leadership, planning, and administration. It is for these reasons that the archdruids are usually selected from the Circle of the Leaf or Circle of the Moon.
Because the Archdruid must be voted into office by their peers, they must also possess some form of social skills.
Requirements
An archdruid must first have been a high druid of one of the Circles for at least two years.
Appointment
When the previous archdruid dies, the high druids of the Circles choose a new archdruid from among themselves and former high druids that may have retired.
Duties
Archdruids must plan and execute dozens of rituals, local holidays, celebrations, and other various events while simultaneously dealing with the undead of the Eleteth Delta and internal politics. The Archdruid also fills important roles in larger yearly rituals, though which ones they are a part of change depending on their skill set.
Responsibilities
The Archdruid maintains a calendar of meetings and upcoming events. Though they usually delegate a large portion of the work to scribes (in the case of reading through legal documents) and high druids (for everything else) they still have social obligations that take up most of their day. Additionally, many archdruids hold public lectures on a monthly basis.
Benefits
Archdruids have access to the political sway that the druids have in Clonmeath and the surrounding area. They also live in a secluded area of the city inside of a fairly large house, though it pales in comparison to the noble houses of most cities.
The Druid Circles have surprisingly large coffers thanks to the various services they provide as well as donations given by those that believe in their cause. Because druidic custom shuns materialistic ideals, a large percentage of the wealth is redistributed to the poor or invested into city security. Where these funds go and what to do with the remaining wealth is left up to the Archdruid, though the Circles all expect a portion of what they helped make.
Accoutrements & Equipment
There is no official uniform for an Archdruid. Some have even performed their duties wearing nothing but a loincloth.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Removing an Archdruid requires a unanimous decision by the Circles. There has only been one case of removal in the history of Clonmeath. Unfortunately the leader was from the Circle of the Moon, which also keeps history. As such, only a select few outside of the Circle knows the specifics.
History
The title of Archdruid was not used until the five Druid Circles came together and formally settled Clonmeath. Once established, it helped unite the Circles as well as mediate any squabbles that may have broken up the groups soon after the Circles joined as one.
