The Gossamer Tree

The main place of study and training for druids in the Circle of the Moon at Clonmeath. It holds a hall of records in a pocket dimension kept in the highest bough of the Gossamer Tree. While there is only one tree, the entire camp is referred to as the Gossamer Tree, and can be used to describe the kitchens at the edge of the camp, the many tents, or even the latrines.

Purpose / Function

The tree is used as a meeting place and base of operations for the druids of the Circle of the Moon in Clonmeath and most of Hazra. It also stores many traditions, histories, poems, writings, and other cultural works about the Eleteth Delta and its residents. Many druids stay at the Gossamer Tree in tents to study closer to the ancient tree.   No other tree of its kind has ever been found, and it will likely stay that way. It does not fruit or flower and grafts have not been able to reproduce it.

Alterations

Over the centuries, druids have used magic to bend the shape of the tree so that parts of it can act as steps.  These steps lead to the hall of records, which is a pocket dimension kept within the tree's core.

History

It is said that the Gossamer Tree has existed before even the greatwoods were planted, and so it has watched the druids grow since their very beginning.  As such, it is fitting that it now holds the entire written history of the druids inside of itself.  From the records that the Circle of the Moon keep, it was found when it was only 8 feet tall. Once the druids determined that the tree held magic inside of it, they began to ward it similarly to the greatwoods.  Over the years this gave the tree strength and allowed it to grow much larger than what should be possible given Eliea's gravity.     Three hundred years ago, an archdruid from the Circle of the Moon discovered that the tree could be woodsung, and thus began the gradual process of shaping the tree to become a safe haven for the history and rituals of the Circles.
