Stommatate of Kaisa

The Stommatate of Kaisa was a historical country and the predecessor to the modern Republic of Kaisa. The Stommatate was created by Eugenos the First, during his conquests on the Gafinou Peninsula. As legend has it, Eugenos I experienced a vision from the folk god Pagekopagos of Anikaisa. The vision told him that his family would rule the Gafinou Peninsula and beyond, as long as he and his descendants offered tribute to Pagekopagos.   For more than two centuries, the country was ruled by a Stomma, a position that was passed down through the Karavasilis royal family. Under their rule, Kaisa defeated the Argomaitian Empire and established control over the Gafinou Peninsula, the southern Zapesadna Mountains, and modern-day Antiopa.   Eventually, the Stommatate was overthrown during the War of the Lion by the Tiporéa, feudal lords and vassals of the Stomma. The Republic of Kaisa was established, and Antiopa split off as a separate country, still ruled by the Karavasilis.   Some stories say that the reason the Stommatate fell was because Pelaga the Fourth defied Pagekopagos. Others say that the waning power of the folk god itself led to collapse. Others say that the whole story was made up to justify Karavasilis rule.
