Ynath

About a century ago, Yndroath was one of the many hamlets along the lines of Finadar Forest but at the time, few people would have even done a double take. The handful of inhabitants and their descendants still live in the city, much more prosperous lives than they have had in the past.   Still, Ynath retains much of its beauty, the ugliness of the civilized world being either carefully hidden away in the mountains or in people's house. The road that naturally ends in the village was built not too long ago to connect Ynath to the rest of the world. Road or not, though, the village feels isolated, caught between a large mountain range, a river with crystalline water (and the obvious waterfall), and a forest. It may feel isolated but Ynathi people are curious and welcoming, opening their arms to stranger: so long as they have something they can provide to the community.   Ynath is organized along the line of the river, just until the cliffs and the waterfall. Its expansion then started moving toward the forest to the east, but has not yet reached it. There's a chance that one day growth stagnates, but there's no telling when and if that will happen.   Now, Ynath is known for its amazing craft and for being a welcoming abode for Iobarians and non-Iobarians of all origins. Over the years, many sought refuge here and most have found it, helping the town prosper into what it is now.

Government

Plutocracy: While the government is not corrupt per se, it is ruled by the wealthiest, luckily their interest usually aligns with those of the village.

Defences

Ynath is not very well defended: Only a small militia keeps up the peace on a good day, but most men and women know how to handle themselves in a fight. The mountain and river serve as a natural defense against most dangers, and a few watchtowers are used for watching over the forest and road when in doubt.

Industry & Trade

Crafting of goods, mining of ore and stones are the most common resources. They also have access to wood from the forest, but it's strongly defended by its inhabitant so wood is often peacefully acquired by trade. They fish in the lake, grow simple crops, and hunt in the mountains, trying as much as possible to avoid the forests. This diversity of trade makes being a broker and a caravaneer a very interesting prospect for the youth.

Infrastructure

A single road leads and leaves the village sitting by a river born in the Icerime Peaks , where several docks sit quietly. Watermills were built along the way, but the most impressive infrastructure is Lembria Mines running deep in the flank of the mountain.

Assets

Crafters of all professions are abundant in Ynath because of its many resources but stores are rare, most trade being exported.

History

Not too long ago, Yndroath was a small forester community, mostly comprised of humans and a few Jotuns. It was built among the ruins of yet another city, long since broken down. No one is entirely sure who were the previous inhabitants, but the ruins size and style suggest larger beings.

Architecture

Houses are mainly made of stone and wood, they are sturdy and intended to last for centuries. The older buildings are mostly made out of wood, including the Hall: strange, red wood that's unique to the region. Because the community is so diverse, architecture is not yet as harmonious as it can be in cities like Mirnbay or Kridorn and even less the rest of the world.
