Known across Harchester as the best Tramrunner in the history of Orphan Heights, Artisan Engineer First Class, and devoted husband and father, Hugo Esker is something of a staple of the working labourers of Orphan. He is a hard man in a working environment, but quick and able to teach, competent, strong as a Mammok, and surprisingly patient, he has earned the respect of his lessers, and more importantly, of his wife, daughter, and sons.
Hugo married his beloved Elise Esker (Heinrich) as a young man of only twenty-two, and when he is not found elbow-deep in a tram engine, the two of them are generally inseparable, and their love for one another another is as legendary as their arguments. They never fail on a Friday evening to head down to the Lager than Life Pub together, their favourite haunt, where the two will lift a well-earned pint, and Elise will humor Hugo and listen to him regale not only her, but the entirety of the pub-going patrons with his opinions of the events of the day. When she chimes in, the pub generally listens. So does Hugo.
Father to Agnes Esker, Alphonse Esker, and Alvin Esker, a firm but gentle man (most of the time) Hugo fills their home with loud thoughts and rubbish machinery he is perpetually working on. Hugo is a man of few words ... unless prompted or provoked to lecture about pretty much anything, and his opinions are as plentiful as Orphan's trams.
