Alphonse Thomas Esker

Second child and eldest son of Hugo Esker and Elise Esker, Alphonse is the consummate middle child, peacemaker, and is generally considered the most even-keeled and level-headed Esker of them all. Rather, this is the case much of the time, until his penchant for all things paranormal and conspiratorial arises, often the product of his longstanding friendship with one Gallanby Newkirk ("Galley"), a school chum and publisher of the fringe periodical, the Hilldiver. Alphonse was its first subscriber.
A Brazesmith Third Class and Lensbender Third Class, Alphonse, like his younger brother Alvin Esker, takes after his father's engineering skills and has often worked as a Tramrunner when the Corps. needed extra hands, but only as he works his way into more artisan trades.
Smarmy (he is an Esker, after all), but down-to-earth, reliable, and something of a lady's man, Alphonse is probably the most "social" Esker, but is known to look out for Alvin Esker, especially following the death of their beloved elder sister, Agnes Esker. Since then, he has fallen into the responsibility of being the eldest, no longer the middle child, and man of the house in the long, long hours when his father is at work.
