Ellery Stanton Hartchild (a.k.a. Duster)

Ellery Stanton Hartchild is the only son and youngest child of Alec Hartchild, brother to Tabitha Caroline Hartchild. He is an Engineer Second Class, one of the youngest ever given such a rank, and member of the LIT Corps., under the supervision of his uncle, Baron Hiram Alberstein Lorecroft (uncle by marriage to his aunt, Eglantine Lorecroft).
He lives with his parents and sister at Kilnhaven Hall in Sparrowdale, a member of the Aristocracy, though the Hartchilds have long been on the edge of the upper crust of Orphan Towne, and so never particularly fit in with any group.
Young Hartchild had difficulty making friends, not unlike his sister, though she at least had Agnes Esker. It is a common malady among the more prominent families of Orphan Heights, and the Hartchilds are no exception.
In the final weeks of his life, Ellery does manage to become friends with both Alvin Esker and Hana Sóholdt, despite her referring to him continually as "Duster," due to his hair reminding her of a Feather Duster. Poor fellow.
