Self-proclaimed master of illusions, archaeologist extraordinaire, semiformer right hand of the king.
Certus Amphibole was born in 25 BC to extraordinarily mundane parents, those parents fifteen years later were found dead from unknown causes.
Amphibole graduated a top student of the Wohlhabend School of Wizardry in 2 BC. He then founded an archaeology company with his best friend and later rival, Obadiah Feldspar. Feldspar would later leave the company due to conflicts over a trove of relics the pair found.
This trove of relics, belonging to a bygone artificer named Daedalus, gained Amphibole recognition by King Teisis I of Wohlhabend. His company gained royal funding, and later rebranded to the Royal Excavation Company. Amphibole found numerous artifacts of great power from Daedalus, donating many of these artifacts to the crown.
Amphibole used a number of artifacts to amplify his already powerful mastery of the arcane as he sought to weaponize Daedalus's creations. His intentions were to use the designs to give Wohlhabend the power needed to conquer all of Arcadia, and maybe the world (with him as the leader, of course).
Amphibole was murdered on the 29th of Krivven, 20 AC by a party of adventurers in a castle he built from Daedalus's artifacts.
Shortly before his death, he had used a combination of artifacts (The Prince's Dagger, the Artificer's Ruby and the Roboticization Diamond) to power himself up, becoming a large mechanical version of himself in hopes of squashing the Relay Party. He was finally defeated and destroyed in this mechanical form.
He was later revived by Teufelous, assisted by Gingolt and the ACbE party, using the Prince's Dagger, the Artificer's Ruby, the Mask of the Thespian, the Cloak of Mist and the Gloves of the Trickster. These items were able to bring him back since, prior to his death, his soul had been torn apart by his use of these magical artifacts, fragments being stored in each object.
