Orthe Bloodwoad (Or-they)
Pharmacologa Orthe Bloodwoad (a.k.a. Maythe)
Orthe Bloodwoad is a Deathless Pharmacologa from Kargast. She was known for being one of the founding Alrauna in the "Golden Age" of their existence. This occurred when she was resuscitated after drowning in a lake at the estate of A****** A******* , located in the Gloynbyw Coalfields. She later married a Hexen impostor of A******, and together they raised Sheena who would become a founding figure in the Clockmakers. The three would eventually estrange themselves pursuing their own Deathless journeys.
Orthe also participated in the first Eskern Cycle as an Ambactos for Ava1ch, allying with Idalia Lark. Her alignment is Citron, and she specialized in Formalin, which is a banned substance. She is known for using a variety of tools which are now considered illegal, including an umbrella that can fire lead bullets.
She is an influential member of the Dead Friends Society though her long tenure and friendship with Jugurtha, the other oldest member of the group. She has survived being beheaded and maimed multiple times through her symbiotic relationship with chamomile, known in Kargast as maythe.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Orthe is a Cambion of mixed Sarcophaga and Heno descent. She was adopted and raised in the Golden Medlar Valley by one of the many Thousand-armed families in the Golden Medlar cult. Thus she had many siblings and little personal space or agency. Due to a horrific accident when she was twelve, she became restricted from working outside of the valley and incurred significant debt in the process. Much of her life was devoted to caring for family members and attempting to pay off her debt.
After a traumatic event on her 50th birthday, Wendy faked her death and finally fled the valley. She reappeared in Abellion Orchards as a personal medic for A****** A******* , whose Double Walker she would eventually marry. Together they raised a daughter, Sheena, who would go on to become a major religious and political figure in the Heno Empire and beyond.
Employment
When she was twelve, she took a seasonal winter job at Abellion Orchards- one of the few freedoms granted to members of her sect. She drowned in a horrific accident during the winter, and framed for theft in order to ban her from ever returning. Wendy has little memory of the event but developed a condition known as Death Delusion.
When she came of age and her debt blacklisted her from any reasonable marriage, she was adopted by Tugdala, the High Priestess and became her apprentice. She was initiated into the Order of Bloodwoad and attained the rank of Pharmacologa, working for the modest organization as an emergency medical technician alongside her adopted brother Hywel.
Mental Trauma
Orthe experienced emotional neglect and silent rejection throughout her natural life. The rumours of her alleged banishment from Abellion Orchards combined with the symptoms of Death Delusion left her feeling ostracized. She felt little warmth toward her siblings even though she was a primary caregiver for some, which left her wracked with guilt. Her parents attempted to push the narrative she had been possessed by evil and was now redeemed, including more purgative religious ceremonies and study in her life.
Even after she became an adult and much of the stigma around her had become old news, Orthe could not bring herself to open up to others. She never really warms up to people, even her own future family, something which she feels a deep pain for. Wendy knows that Sheena remembers her more as a mentor than a mother. She believes that the grief she feels at that is her only sign that she is somewhat capable of feeling love.
