Alrauna
Also known as their own culture, Alrauna are survivors of Royal Rot who have a symbiotic relationship with another being, known as the mandrake. The virus within this mandrake keeps them in a state of purgatory, allowing them extended lives.
* They retain the bodies they were killed in, so typically they are Urkommen or Henoset
* Seeds are planted in their body, usually in the bowels or the throat, and this plant will grow out of them, giving their skin a bruised look and sometimes varicose/migrating veins
* Their eyes are often yellow, cloudy, or bloodshot
* Some of them have visible plant matter growing out of them, though others purposely prune this
* They often lose senses during the process of dying and regrowing
* A large percentage of them have impaired vision, ranging from minor to total blindness
* They have an extremely good sense of smell if they manage to keep it
* Their nervous systems are sensitive, so they feel pain intensely
Where are they in your setting?
* They're thought to have originated in Eskern or Cargast, within the Heno Empire
* They mostly live in forests and densely populated urban areas, as they tend to be outcasts
* They tend to follow the paths of Double Walkers, though they are not as numerous
How do they survive in their environment?
* They get their energy like lichen, so they can survive for a long time on no food
* They don't bleed and thus they can't bleed out and can reattach limbs (not regrow, usually)
* They can communicate with plants and trees, so they can master their environments pretty well
What is their general attitude?
* Most Alrauna die violent deaths, so they tend to be very haunted people
* Many of them also suffer from Silicon Sickness so they are also outcasts
* Thus they tend not to play by civilization's rules, but they enjoy its benefits
* Although solitary, they are extremely loyal to their species as a means of self-preservation
How do they feel about the other peoples?
* They see themselves as separate from other living beings
* Though they are not "born from nothing", one could argue whatever awakens in their bodies is no longer the original soul. So they are feared by most people
* They are more sympathetic to the Gannwyll Gwydd and Heno, due to their connection to Double Walkers
