Gloynbyw Fields
The Gloynbyw ("the living coal") of the is the name of a coalfield area in Kargast. It separates the Headless Mountains and the region of Meld's Mouth, and is somewhat of a quaint, agrarian and pastoral escape from the otherwise industrial complexes in both areas. Theoretically.
What are your non-earth-like geographical features in your setting?
- The area has been mined age after age using various technologies, much of that has left the area scarred and seemingly uninhabitable until what seems like recent.
- There is an abundance of large Gwraig Verth, giant stone women/their bones that are used as settlements for Halfwings
- There are lot of spoil heaps which have become their own ecosystems and even built upon by inhabitants of the valley
- The inhabitants, based on the ecosystem, have the capability to use batteries but typically only have a few central sources of charging them, so no electrical grid, just a lot of generators
What’s the general “lay of the land” of your active worldbuilding area?
- It is a hilly region at the Southeastern end of the Headless Mountain range
- There are several prominent hills such as Atenoux Hill and Penaval Hill
- Part of Base Camp Mountain, the first peak of the Headless Mountains, is a plastic ice sheet-like wall
- Many rivers carve through the valley, emptying into Meld's Mouth Bay, with the largest point being the Estuary of the River Meld
- Some of its tributaries include the River Orgetos, River Bodua, and the River Paris
- The region technically includes the Northern segment of Meld's Mouth, a frequently disputed region and cultural centre of the Western inhabitants with its own egregore
- There are a lot of orchards and wooded areas as trees tend to feed well off Gwraig Verth.
And what is the climate or environment like, in your active worldbuilding area?
- It rains a lot and is home to several micro climates, but some areas experience intense winters and cold snaps due to their proximity to the Headless Mountains
- Climate is otherwise fairly mild maritime climate with some influence from the Northern mountains and Southern Meld's Mouth Bay

- Choleric Badland terrain is common due to the former heavy industry, particularly in the uplands and base of Base Camp Mountain
- Phelgmatic Bogland in some of the areas in the South where there are more rivers and less underground fires
