Serukian Shroom

Behold, the Serukian Shroom. This is the largest mushroom on the planet. Thanks to a rare nutrient in the soil and perfect weather conditions, this mushroom has grown over two-hundred feet tall.
The base of the stem has given a sheltered home to a village for the past five hundred years. Our people are protected by the life-giving golden aura, the Aureal Dome.

Serukian Shroom by Mochi

The single largest mushroom on Ivucarro, the Serukian Shroom divides the Prismatic Fields. Where the two seas north and south attempt to carve a river between the Fields, the Serukian Shroom stands tall.

An endless cavern system below this megashroom is home to the mycelials, a metraphite morphotype.

With its shimmering golden cap, the Serukian Shroom is an unmistakeable sight from orbit. Many use it as a beacon when landing on the planet, as three of the globe's biggest spaceports are all found in, or close, to this region.

This mushroom glistens in the moonlight, producing a soft golden atmospheric hue around full moons. It is believed this mushroom caused sentience in metraphites - the idea that sentience in a species stemmed from consuming mushrooms is a fairly common theory seen on countless planets, and on Ivucarro it is one of the leading scientific theories, especially given how abundant mushrooms are.

Thousands of birds and small dragons nest atop the Serukian Shroom during mating season, in a giant harmonious ecosystem.

Lifespan
Around 5000 years old

That's an enormous mushroom! Does it have a mycelium network underground and release tons of spores, or is it only a surface structure?

This mushroom has a biiiiig mycelium network that will be getting its own article! Expect it during WE, if not tonight xD It doesn't release spores as I want this to be the only one of its species, but I haven't figured out why. Thank you for liking and commenting! <3

This is a lot of fun! That's a big mushroom and so smart to learn to live within it to make symbiotic use of its magic.

Are the 'lifespan' and 'average size' just the current age and size of the Shroom, or something actually fixed? Will it continue growing, live indefinitely (immortal beings wouldn't really need to reproduce), or no? Also curious as to the "rare nutrient" in the soil (though I have reason to suspect it might get an article of its own soon). Gotta love a big mushroom!!

This article hasn't been re-written yet, so expect a lot of changes when it happens! I want to scale this down when I do re-write it, but design it as a mushroom growing far too fast, and the caverns below are struggling to handle its growing size.   And yes, expect an article on rare nutrients! I don't know when I'll write it, but there *will* be one eventually! :D

Giant mushroom!!! :D We love that and they are so interesting. The cavern systems below, the iridescent glow above so bright it can be utilized and helpful for approaching craft to guide them? Amazing, great piece Mochi.
