Dimensional Dust
Dimensional dust is the magical residue from tearing a hole through a dimensional wall. The dust is glittery and glows more colours than any person can see. Making physical contact with this dust causes brief psychic flutters, and when combined with vita can create a durable solid material.
For almost an eternity dimension dust was thought to be useless. It was nothing more than a knick knack, a jar of dust gathering its own dust in the cobweb-covered top shelf of any sorcerer's home. It was only until Alyssia, the Wanderer invent the first realm ripper did people discover the true potential of this perplexing resource.
Tearing a hole through a dimensional wall is dangerous and messy, cosmic sparks flying and dust settling on the ground.
Be careful, as the sparks can set this dust alight and cause a celestial fire that can only be put out by a skilled stellamancer.
Alyssia's invention of the realm ripper was the first instance of dimensional dust having a practical use. Before this it was purely something decorative, kept as a memoir or souvenier of a mage's travels across the Yonderverse and its infinite realms.
The realm ripper was invented roughly thirty thousand years ago, give or take. Alyssa has been cursed with immortality, and even she herself has forgotten her true age, not to mention the date of any of her major life events. After this invention, she began tinkering more with dimensional dust, observing its properties and discovering its capabilities.
As it turns out, dimensional dust is a fantastic celestial firestarter. It somehow occurred to nobody that this dust could be used to ignite a celestial flame, an eternal fire used to power pyromancy spells.
