Welcome one and all to the grand world of Therovar. One continent lies in this world, and it is home to five nations, each ruled by a God of its own.
Where to Start
What is Therovar?
See below for a quick look at each of the territories in play. Further down you can find the CODEX, an organized look at the rules, history, and lore of the world of Therovar. The map is always a great place for orienting yourself, and there are even embedded articles for each state and location! Don't forget to check out the state pages themselves to understand the basics before diving into cities!
I'm looking to play a ______ . How does that fit here?
Well, the world of Therovar is slightly different from the material plane of classic DND adventures. The gods you know of before are not here. Check out the section on gods below in the codex to look at the 6 gods of this realm. Most of the playable races are still fine to select, even ones normally hailing from other planes. Get with your DM to consult on how to make this work. Check out
Races & Racism!
You may also wonder about classes. All standard classes can work, albeit some with a bit of tonal changing or special resources by your DM. An article for Classes will be available soon to outline how to make classes like warlocks or subclasses like aberrent mind sorcerer fit better into the world. Until then, talk with your DM or consult other pages to try out a fitting backstory of your own!
Did you say no other planes?
Good catch! Yes, the world of Therovar is self contained. There are no other planes to travel to or have influence from. That isn't to say that their isn't lore or mysteries or even theories within Therovar that point to the existence of other planes. Check out
One Plane !
What about the baddies?
You may also wonder how to tie your favorite monster into your backstory, or if that works here. Check out
Monsters. This delves into what monsters are and are not found in the world. Generally, monsters of other planes are not commonly found, but there may still be some in hiding out and about!
The States
Sanctia - The Kingdom of Grace.
Ruled by Radiant
Mother Isha, Sanctia is a theocratic nation of devotion and judgment, where divine law governs all life. Obedience is salvation; blasphemy is ash.
Karnatel - The Crucible State
Under the watchful eye of
Veltraxis the Omnicron, Karnatel thrives as a utopian technocracy fueled by invention and ambition. Ascension is earned through creation, yet the highest truths are hidden from all but the elite.
In the mountain-wrapped temples of Zhen'Tao, the faithful pursue enlightenment under the silent gaze of
Master Vhanu. Few ascend to see him; fewer return unchanged.
Verdath - The Rootbound Wilds
Nature here is no longer passive. Overseen by The
Blight and The
Carrion Hunter,
Twin Gods of growth and hunger, Verdath is an ever-spreading wilderness where everything is either devoured or transformed.
A land of blood and fury, ruled by
The Scourge, a god of destruction and war. Tribes roam the ash-choked plains in his name, offering violence and memory to appease their eternal warlord.
The Isle of the Immortals - Seat of the Eternal Court
Shrouded in sea mist and myth, the Isle of the Immortals is where the divine sovereigns convene once every few decades. No mortal has ever stepped foot on its shores, and none can say for certain what transpires when the gods gather.
