Aureliad

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Aureliads are special ancient Angels. They are a finite choir of ancient, four-winged celestials made of lucent, living light. They are not born from mortal souls and they stand outside the normal chains of Celestials. Gods entrust them with long-view, sensitive work, omen-keeping, and covenants.   Unlike solars, Aureliads rarely march in warhosts and are far fewer in number. Instead, they serve as agents of patience and precision, attending to long-term strategies, hidden negotiations, or interventions where brute force would imperil the Balance. However, they do not fear death as the rest of the Celestials, as they know, they can always act in the face of Evil.

Replacement

Vacancy
In the period of 9 days, When an Aureliad is annihilated (no body, no anchor), all Aureliads become receptive. Prayers and good works across the Upper Planes pass through them like wind through chimes.
Selection
One Aureliad, often the one most exposed to a single deity’s fresh, focused tide of veneration, enters Cleave.
Cleave
Also known as the Split , their Diadem brightens and they divide into two complete beings:
  • The Eldar-Half keeps the base identity, loses a little might, gains a hairline “mirror scar” in the halo
  •
  • the Newborn (the Facet-Born), who inherits a portion of the Elder’s memories and temperament but with power skewed toward the catalyzing deity’s themes/domains.

'Birth'

the choir only grows larger when a genuinely new evil (an unprecedented atrocity or category of wickedness) enters the world. That cosmic wound forces a second fission, one more Aureliad is added to meet that new darkness.

Additional Information

Social Structure

The Celestial Hebdomad still rule, Angels enact, Archons administer, Agathions mediate nature, Azatas champion free good and Aureliads weave between all, operating as discreet envoys and counterweights. Each deity may elevate one Paragon Aureliad (a “Facet-Prime”) with a signature miracle.

Society

Within Mertion, they exist Drill-masters of mercy. They run Processional Schools that train mixed-order paladins to march and tend in the same breath.   Within Jovar, they have a Hall of Prisms, which is a forum where Facet disputes are argued like case law; they keep precedence scrolls on when mercy outranks zeal or vice-versa.   Within the Platinum Palace, they have the Exedra of Crowns, a semicircle of floating diadems that chorus when a Vacancy begins.   Within Chronias at the edge, Aureliads serve as last escorts; their Diadems dim to silver here.   While not naturally among the planes where the River Okyanus exist, within the exception of Elysium, they pilot Accord Barges on treaty days; each barge bears three banners from distinct good powers as a vow of neutrality.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Aureliads are intercessors of concord. They cherish plurality inside goodness: different vows, same direction. They are patient with zeal, impatient with purity tests, and ferocious against coercion. They dislike being worshiped, preferring to redirect thanks to the deities whose Facets they carry.
