Built on top of an old fort, Perantown rests a half mile upriver from the coast, protecting its harbor from most of the ocean's fury. While significantly smaller than most of the other major ports of the Cabrianas, the surrounding forests (of a cedar-like tree called Kiramaru) provide the strongest timber in the isles. While the ruling Krovatin family is certainly known to be one of the lesser houses of the Cabrianas, they are the oldest ruling house in the region, having occupied Perantown since 250 years prior to the Harrowing. Therefore, their name commands a certain level of respect, even to mighty House Bogado. Regardless, the timber from the isle of Carico is prized for its strength and remains in high demand as a valuable construction material. Therefore, the port of Perantown is often busier than the town's small stature would suggest, maintaining a healthy economy that's supported by a sizeable transient population of sailors and merchants.
