The majority of city of Cadanport rests on a hilly peninsula, split from the mainland by a wide river. The port itself, as well as the sprawling shipyards, populate both banks just upriver from its mouth. Even further upriver, two large-stone piered bridges—densely developed into storefronts and merchant housing—connect the two sides of the city. Cadanport sprawls across the river from the peninsula over the thinner stretch of land sandwiched between the jungled mountains and the sea. Here, among the tangle of hastily constructed slums, smokestacks rise from the powder mills, dominating the skyline with thick plumes of smoke. Even from a distance this small city appears alive with production, hosting a nearly constant parade of ships arriving and departing at all hours. This is a town that never sleeps.
