Storm Peaks

Summary

A realm of jagged cliffs and frozen silence, The Storm Peaks pierce the heavens of Northrend like the fingers of forgotten gods. This titan-forged land was once the seat of great watchers and the prison of an Old God. Now, lightning dances across ruined vaults, ancient keepers stir from slumber, and the legacy of the titans teeters on the edge of awakening—or annihilation.

Notable Landmarks:

  • Ulduar – A vast titan city and prison complex, built to contain Yogg-Saron. Now compromised and echoing with whispers of madness. Once a symbol of order, now a gateway to void.
  • Temple of Storms – A floating shrine dedicated to Thorim, Keeper of Thunder. Once lost in grief and tricked by Loken, his return heralded war across the peaks.
  • The Engine of the Makers – A world-shaping titan device, buried deep within the mountains. Its purpose and function remain only partially understood.
  • Brunnhildar Village – Home of the Hyldnir, a matriarchal society of frost vrykul who train only the strongest among them to ascend to the halls of valor.
  • Thunderfall and Dun Niffelem – Settlements of frost giants and relics of the sons of Hodir, caught between reverence for the titans and the betrayal of Loken.

Relevant Factions:

  • The Titan Keepers (Thorim, Hodir, Freya, Mimiron, etc.) – Dormant or deceived by Loken, these ancient watchers once guarded Azeroth’s destiny. Their conflict with Yogg-Saron shattered their unity.
  • The Sons of Hodir – Noble frost giants who uphold ancient titan values. Fiercely independent and slow to trust mortals.
  • The Iron Dwarves – Corrupted titan-forged servants, now pawns of Loken and agents of Yogg-Saron’s will.
  • The Cult of the Damned / Yogg-Saron’s Minions – Spread madness and chaos from the heart of Ulduar, attempting to weaken reality itself.
  • The Hyldnir – Warrior vrykul women who challenge outsiders in combat trials. Only the worthy earn their respect—or survival.

Historical Notes:

  • The betrayal of Loken, once a titan-forged overseer, triggered a chain reaction that allowed Yogg-Saron’s influence to seep into the world.
  • Ulduar became the site of one of the most critical battles in Azeroth’s history, where mortals struck down an Old God without the Aspects’ aid.
  • The Storm Peaks hold deeper truths about the Forge of Wills, the curse of flesh, and the origins of many mortal races.
