Lidet ([li:dɛ:t])

Lidet is a planet defined by its rugged surface, cool climate, and mineral-rich crimson soil. Situated between the fertile plains of Anam and the icy expanse of Begali, Lidet occupies a unique place in the Six Sisters, bridging temperate and arctic climates.

The planet’s topography is varied and dramatic, featuring sprawling rocky plateaus, jagged mountain ranges, and deep canyons carved by ancient glacial activity. These mountains, veined with rich deposits of precious minerals and metals, form the backbone of Lidet’s economy. Towering peaks crowned with snow dominate the skyline, with cascading waterfalls and icy rivers weaving through the valleys below. The plateaus and highlands are scattered with hardy vegetation, including resilient shrubs, mosses, and wind-twisted trees that cling to the rocky soil.

Between the mountains lie vast, arid basins covered in crimson dust, where the mineral-rich soil paints the landscape in shades of deep red and rust. Though visually stunning, these regions are inhospitable to most forms of agriculture due to the high concentration of metallic elements in the ground. Occasional geothermal vents dot the landscape, releasing steam and creating pockets of warmth amidst the cold environment.

The coastlines of Lidet are rugged and wild, with sheer cliffs plunging into icy seas. Fjords cut deep into the land, creating sheltered waterways that serve as natural harbours for the planet’s sparse coastal settlements. Inland, glacial lakes and freshwater springs provide vital resources for the population, with many settlements built around these life-giving features.

Despite its challenges, Lidet is not without its gentler features. The lower valleys and riverbanks offer small pockets of arable land where limited subsistence farming is possible. These fertile oases, though rare, are meticulously managed and often feature terraced fields carved into the hillsides.
