Echani Command ([ɛˑʃɑˑniˑ cʌmænd])

Structure

The Echani Command consisted of six female leaders, each representing one of the Six Sisters. These women were the highest authority responsible for making decisions for the entire Echani civilization.

Public Agenda

The Echani Command's public agenda is to preserve and promote the Echani culture of martial excellence, unity, and self-expression through combat while ensuring the prosperity and security of the Six Sisters.

History

Legal documents attest that the Echani Command was formed between 12 270 BBY and 12 260 BBY, more or less a decade after the Echani's break from the Arkanians.

Territories

The Echani Command occupies the entire system of Eshan, which includes the Six Sisters: Eshan, Anam, Lidet, Odir, Begali, and Thyrsus. These territories are a mix of ancestral lands, forcefully held regions, and areas of tension or resistance. Eshan, as the political and cultural seat of the Echani, is the most firmly under the control of the Command, with the population there deeply supportive of the governing body, viewing it as integral to preserving their traditions and way of life. Anam, while neutral, generally respects the Command’s rule, though it maintains some distance. Lidet and Odir are more accepting of the Command's influence, with Lidet seeing it as a unifying force and Odir acknowledging its authority while remaining relatively isolated.

However, tensions exist on Begali and Thyrsus. Begali harbors lingering resentment from an earlier uprising, where the populace viewed the Echani Command as an oppressive force that prioritized Eshan over other planets. Thyrsus, home to the Thyrsians, is the most resistant to the Command, with its inhabitants viewing the Echani as culturally biased and oppressive, particularly in their treatment of Thyrsian military traditions. These two planets have longstanding grievances with the Echani leadership and their positions within the system.

Military

The structure and strategy of the Echani military emphasise deterrence, defence, and isolation instead of a large, heavily armed standing army.

This force comprises Echani warriors who are experts in their specialised martial arts. They are trained to use their bodies and certain ceremonial weapons to master defensive tactics rather than aggressive offences.

The military's primary focus is then on border security and borderland deterrence, with fortified, difficult-to-penetrate military convoys and outposts placed at strategic locations around the Six Sisters as well as on the planets' surfaces. These outposts prioritise making incursions into Echani space nearly impossible, relying on swift, silent defence tactics instead of visible shows of force. Eshan also employs stealth-based military technology, such as chromium-lined vessels to block communications, cloaked vessels, or undetectable defensive systems to protect the Six Sisters' borders while avoiding attention.

The Echani Command makes it clear that any attempt at violating their space or secrets would result in immediate, well-coordinated neutralisations, with specialised warriors trained in non-lethal techniques aimed to aid in capture and interrogation.

In contrast to the Echani military, the Thyrsians adopt a far more aggressive military structure. They use heavy armour, blasters, and large-scale tactics to overwhelm opponents. They value offensive power and brute strength, focusing on shock troops, siege warfare, and brutal assaults.

Foreign Relations

The state of foreign relations of the Echani Command can be described as cautious but pragmatic, shaped by their values, history, and strategic priorities:

  • The Echani command remains neutral in intergalactic conflicts, focusing on protecting their people and culture.
  • Despite their isolationist natures, the Echani are widely respected for their discipline, combat skills, and honour-driven culture. This reputation garners admiration and caution from other nations.
  • The Echani trade directly exclusively with the planet Taanab. Their resources, which are mostly metals, minerals, and melee weapons, are sold to others through Taanabians. In return for a discount on the purchase of foodstuffs, the Echani have granted Taanab an equivalent share of the profits made through them.
  • The Echani are wary of imperialist or militaristic factions like the Sith Empire, Separatists, or later, the Galactic Empire, which they perceive as a direct threat to their autonomy and culture.
  • There is a historical rivalry with the Mandalorians, stemming from cultural differences and competition as warrior societies. While open conflict is rare, mutual distrust persists, with occasional diplomatic overtures made for the sake of peace or mutual interests.
  • While the Echani Command respects the Jedi Order for what it is, their historical connection to Treganna, Yadir and the Chosen has created a borderline fear of their influence in internal affairs. In modern times, the Echani Command does their best to avoid their Chosen being found by the Jedi Order, though especially strong Force users sometimes cannot be hidden.
  • The Echani Command does not seek to expand beyond the Six Sisters.

Trade & Transport

The Echani Command relies on a highly efficient, tightly controlled trade network to manage the flow of goods between the Six Sisters and Taanab, facilitated by their strategic location along the Perlemian Trade Route.

  • Each of the Six Sisters maintains highly advanced tradeports, acting as hubs for the collection, processing, and export of Echani goods. These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art scanners, docking bays, and storage units to ensure efficiency and security.
  • The Echani Command employs a fleet of specialized cargo vessels to transport goods to Taanab. These vessels are designed for security, utilising Chromium-lined hulls to block communications and ensure their shipments remain safe from pirates and other threats.
  • A long-standing agreement with Taanab ensures smooth trade operations. Echani and Taanabian merchants operate under a strict set of trade protocols, with regular communication and joint oversight to prevent disputes and maintain transparency.
  • Within the Six Sisters, products are redistributed using a network of suborbital shuttles and high-speed atmospheric craft, ensuring each planet receives the required resources. Planetary governments coordinate closely with the Command to allocate goods based on need and productivity.
  • The Echani Command maintains diplomatic envoys on Taanab to oversee trade negotiations and ensure that the partnership remains mutually beneficial. These envoys also address any disputes or logistical challenges that arise.
  • Given the exclusivity of the trade relationship and the high value of Echani resources, the Command ensures that trade convoys are well-guarded. Escort fleets comprising Echani starfighters and corvettes accompany shipments, with military response teams on standby.
