Goblin
Goblins are a small humanoid race which are largely consided extinct due to The Alderian, Glaviankin genocide.
The species however has thought to have somewhat escaped the genocide by retreating into harsh environments such as marshlands, mountains and in uncolonised regions of The West Forest
Basic Information
Anatomy
Goblins are small, wiry humanoids with compact musculature, long limbs relative to torso size, and sharp angular features. Their skin texture tends toward coarse and slightly leathery due to environmental hardship. Goblins possess lean muscle optimized for speed, sudden bursts of power, and rapid reaction. Their physiology favors survival over comfort — low body fat, efficient thermoregulation, and high adaptability to scarcity. Their movements are quick and restless, with a posture often half-crouched, reflecting a background of hunting, hiding, and ambush living.
Biological Traits
Low-light vision: Can see clearly in dim environments up to 30 meters (100 ft cannot see in complete darkness.
Environmental stealth: +1 stealth in natural terrain (marsh, forest, underground, rubble zones).
Metabolic efficiency: Require 1,600–2,200 kcal/day on average.
Genetics and Reproduction
Goblins are a pure species, not a hybrid line. They reproduce sexually, maturing quickly and producing multiple offspring per brood in harsh environments where survival is uncertain. Goblins can only reproduce with goblins; cross-breeding attempts with other species do not result in viable offspring. Their genetics favor adaptability and resilience over longevity or specialization.
Growth Rate & Stages
Goblin children mature rapidly, reaching functional independence by age five and physical maturity by age ten. Early life is focused on survival skill acquisition — tracking, scavenging, hiding, and weapons familiarity. Goblins remain agile and active through adulthood, though aging begins earlier than in humans, with physical decline commonly visible by late forties.
Ecology and Habitats
Goblins thrive in marginal lands — marshes, caves, rubble fields, deep forests, and abandoned settlements. They are instinctive survivors who can adapt to scarcity, reclaim ruins, and endure environmental hostility. Goblin communities often build tight-clustered compounds for collective defense and resource sharing. While often driven from prime territory by larger powers, goblins establish surprisingly effective micro-societies in overlooked or inhospitable areas.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Goblins are opportunistic omnivores. They consume meat, roots, fungi, fish, grains when possible, and scavenged food when necessary. Their digestive systems handle rough or heavily preserved fare with minimal issue. They favor frequent small meals, reflecting metabolisms tuned to irregular food supply. They are capable of subsisting on low-quality resources but excel when allowed varied nutrition.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Goblin senses are tuned toward survival in unstable and hostile territory. Their hearing is acute and attuned to subtle motion, scraping, and predator approaches. They have good low-light visibility, though not full dark vision — enough to navigate caverns, marshes, and night forests effectively. Goblins possess strong spatial awareness and instinctive danger recognition, reacting rapidly to threats or shifts in environment.
Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
Clan Bogclutch is an old goblin clan which surived in The marshlands of Redstone Hold for hundreds of years in the abandoned city of Black Fang Hollow until they were pushed out in The 87th Era of Enchantment ending up as refugees until The Master gifted them The Embercrack Western Border Tower.
History
The goblin race during The Pre Era of Founding were largely vassal states that existed under The Federation Mandate, in modern times they are largely thought to be extinct by the wider society. Some have thought to have escaped the genocide by retreating into harsh environments and rumours of Clan Bogclutch have began to spread throughout Redstone Hold but not to The Kingdom of Alderia as a whole.
