Chapter Two - Session 12

General Summary

Having rescued Mineralis from their prison, the party returns to their physical bodies beneath the scrapyard: but they're not out of the woods yet. The crystal prison Mineralis was kept in acted like a battery, using Mineralis' power to grant the scrapyard its magic. With quick thinking, some sacrifice, and compassion the party manages to get Mineralis to the safety of the Bastion before they can die. Making their own way to the safety of the Bastion by tracking down pockets of Elsewhere within the Scrapyard, the party considers next steps and takes a well deserved rest. Ultimately, they set their sights on Aetheria Machinara. Back in the Scrapyard, the party discovers that Sandy and Sandy aren't really sisters, but cross-universe duplicates who remember their past lives. Figuring kindred spirits should work together, the group takes on these new allies in stride.

Rewards Granted

Stalwart Allies - The Sandies

Sandy and Sandy have revealed their truth to the party after catching them snooping around Elsewhere portals: they're the same person from different universes. The pair take comfort in finding someone else who has memories of the life they've been ripped away from and are willing to offer whatever help they can.

Lost Knowledge: The Primordial Well

Mineralis as they began to wither and die, revealed information about something called 'the Primordial Well' a place where the Gods go to 'Retire' their mortal bodies and generate new ones. They've hinted that Horologium won't like that they shared such information.

Missions/Quests Completed

Like a Dying Star: Mineralis

Though free, it seems like the crystal prisons have overly taxed the mortal bodies of the imprisoned gods. Luckily, the Bastion seems to have recovery properties.

Quest Started - Lost in the Weave

Sandy has been trying to track down her companions from her home universe. She's managed to locate some, but two of them haven't turned up in her searching. Hopefully the party can help to track them down and let Sandy know they're okay.

Character(s) interacted with

Mineralis

Mineralis' optimism shines through even as they're dying; finding value in the experience of death (and perhaps a deeper appreciation for the other gods that have died previously).

Sandy (Red Sand Angel)

While not an official leader, it's clear the Scrapyard place a lot of importance on what Sandy and Sandy say and do. The party learned that this Sandy woke up in an Elsewhere space and that she and her 'sister' are actually the same person. Sandy remembers that she's a 'Chosen of Endings' from a place called 'Creation' where reflections of the Diyonic gods rule over mortal lives. She's been disconnected from her magic (which seems to be related so some sort of loom or weave) and is trying to track down her lost friends.

Sandy (Cassandra)

An odd duck; well respected but odd. She seems to have a knack for sneaking up on people, though she doesn't seem to mean anything malicious by it. The party learned Sandy seems more easily able to see and interact with Elsewhere spaces (likely as a result of her innate magic and connection to the world around her).

Notes

Bastion Progress

Bastion progress has progressed by a day: 5/7 Sprout seems content attending to the garden. Astra is starting to get a little restless. Mineralis is recovering. The Bastion is still littered with nonsensical doors.

Notable Moments

  • Fio gives up her Liquid Starlight to save Mineralis' life which is just....so good.
  • Ryshard fusses over having left Astra virtually alone in the Bastion for a few days. She's not really bothered, but she's a little bored: he takes this very seriously.
  • Byeol disappears at the same time that Mineralis uses Dimension Door leading to an interesting question of: does Byeol also have Dimension Door? Or was that a normal Byeol disappearance? The world may never know.
